My combat boots were pounding against the asphalt, kicking up loose pebbles and stones. My hair was in a dismay, and I was crying. I had made it about two miles, and the gas station was out of sight. I was surrounded by trees, and it was evident that I was in a forest. I heard the roar of the engine before the truck itself came around the bend behind me.
I knew I wouldn't be able to out run it, and the only thing that came to mind as of what to do was to go off the road and deeper into the forest. Just as I was off the road, I felt the rush of the truck going by, and I suddenly felt a spasm of energy. I let the adrenaline run, and took off running. If I started sprinting now, the adrenaline might wear down quickly, and I wanted to be able to make a quick escape if needed. In the distance, somewhere behind me, I heard the sound of two car doors opening, and then slamming shut.
My breathing sped up, and all previous plans to not sprint away fled my mind as I forced my legs to move quicker as I broke into a sprint. I could already hear three pairs of feet behind me.
Wait.
Three?!
My legs suddenly have out from under me as I desperately attempted to get away. I decided to do the stupidest thing I could've done. I looked behind me. My eyes widened in terror as I noticed the guy in the white hoody, along with the two men who had been diving the truck, were the ones chasing me. My breathing sped up as I attempted to get up and run, but to no avail. My legs were suddenly kicked out from under me, and I face planted into the ground, nearly bashing my face into a metal pole that was now dangerously close to my eyes, specifically my right eye.
The feeling of extra weight being put onto my back forced the air out of my lungs. I felt someone grip my wrists, putting them behind my back, and then putting something cool, most likely plastic, around them both. The familiar sound of a zip tie closing made my heart race and my eyes widen as it tightened around them both. I heard the rustle of a bag being opened, and then the feeling of my ankles being tied together. I felt myself begin to panic as they hauled me up, and as soon as I was upright, a blindfold was placed over my eyes. I felt someone, with a surprising gentleness, put one odd their hands behind my knees, and the other on my back, and in one swift movement, picked me up. Whoever had picked me up was now carrying me bridle- style. My head was now resting against their shoulder. After what felt like hours of someone carrying me, I felt myself slowly start to fall into the void called sleep,my breathing evening out. And so, I fell asleep being carried by one of my kidnappers.
