Arrival
Henri’s POVWhen we reached Carruthers territory, I pulled over letting the others pass me. I wanted to be the last one to arrive. What can I say? I love making loud entrances. I link with Dare. Has the meeting started yet?
No. But where are you?
I’m waiting for the meeting to start. You know me. I say laughing. He grumbles. Yeah, I do know you. Come on then. It just started. Man is this alpha boring.
Heading your way Dare.I smile and give my baby some gas. Now, normally my baby wasn’t that loud. But when you have a brother who’s a bike wizard, you could get anything sounding like a lion. They heard me the second I pulled into their street. By the time I came to a slow stop behind Dean’s car, everyone was looking at me. I could feel Gideon’s anger and annoyance at being interrupted, but I didn’t care.
I turned my bike off and slide off. Turning my back towards them, I pull my helmet off and shake my hair out. I smirk when I hear Louis giving me a wolf whistle in our link. Take a picture babe. It’ll last longer.
Why would I need to take one when I get you every night?
True, so true. I laugh and face them. Walking up to Louis, I kiss him. Smiling at Derrick, I speak. “Sorry I’m late alpha. I was having some…Ninja problems.” He smiles and laughs softly. No one has recognized me, I think as I look around. Feeling eyes on me, I look up and into my brother’s stare. Well, I guess I spoke too soon.
But he misses us. Angel tells me softly. How can you tell Angie?
His eyes. I look at his eyes again and I’m shocked to see pain, regret, longing and surprise there. I give him a small smile as I grasp our sibling link. I haven’t used it since my parents’ death, so it felt a little weak. Hello brother. I say and almost start laughing at the look that crossed his face.
Ryan’s POV
These past two weeks have been pure torture for me. It seemed like Gideon and Lillian was everywhere I went. It got so bad that I only went into the pack house only when I absolutely had to. Gideon hasn’t noticed how cold I am towards him, but she has. But I don’t care. She traded true love for a title.
Pulling myself out of my thoughts, I hear Alpha Reid explain that his best warrior would be a little late. Gideon started on his welcome speech. That dude is one boring speaker. He hadn’t been talking for more than five minutes when the roar of a motorcycle reaches us. Gideon tries to talk over it, but it easily drowns his voice out.
Everyone turns to watch as a black and red Kawasaki Ninja 1000 stops behind one of the Adelis pack’s cars. The rider gets off and removes her helmet. I almost laughed at the look of surprise on the faces of our men. I caught an oddly familiar scent coming from her, but I just shook it off. This girl couldn’t be my sister. For one, Henri was scared to death of bikes. There was no way she’d ever ride one.
When she turns around, I almost stop breathing. There, standing before me, was Henrietta. She looked different, but in a good way. As I kept my eyes on her, I could feel Lillian try to link with me, but I keep the walls up around my mind. I saw that Henri felt my eyes on her as she starts to look around. Then our eyes lock.
I can’t tell if she’s happy to see me or not. I can’t talk to her in front of everyone, so I let my eyes talk for me. She gives me a small, weak smile and my heart breaks. Hello brother. She says through our link. It’s so weak from un-use; it makes her voice sound broken. I feel my mind lock in surprise. I never thought she would ever speak to me again.
I’m sorry Henri, for everything. I wasn’t the big brother that I should have been. I wasn’t there for you when you needed me, and I never protected you from them. I was so lost in my pain and misery that I didn’t even think about you. I am truly sorry sister.
I understand Ryan. Trust me, I do. But you see, I have you to thank. If you hadn’t treated me like you did, when G… my mate rejected me I wouldn’t have ran. And I wouldn’t have been accepted by my adoptive brothers. And I wouldn’t have found Louis. I could feel a smile in her words.
We’ll catch up later Henri. I tell her and she closes the link. She smiles at the man holding her. I pegged him to be her mate Louis. I look him over slowly. He had the power of a beta radiating off of him, but I could tell that he wasn’t part of Alpha Derrick’s pack.
Derrick starts to speak and I focus on him. “Carruthers pack, I would like to introduce a few wolves to you. First of all, this is Aaron Moses my beta and this is Dean Morgan my third in command. They will be your trainers.” They snapped to attention when he called their names. The females of our pack started to whisper about them.
“And the person that will be over them regarding your training is the best warrior we’ve ever had in our pack.” He says and I couldn’t help but chuckle. That’s saying something considering his pack was known for the warriors that come from them. “Henri, would you please stand beside me?” Every starts looking around at the men waiting for one of them to move. But I keep my eyes on my sister.
Keeping her head tall, she steps beside Derrick. “This is Henri. Henri this is the Carruthers pack.” I couldn’t help but notice how cold his voice sounded just then. Henri nods at us, her eyes lingering on me. I give her a smile and I felt it growing bigger when she smiles back at me.
“Hello jerks.” She says softly before stepping down again. It feels so good to have my sister back home.
