Chapter 4

After court we went home, I headed to my room to change for track practice. After I changed I was making sure I had everything in my gym bag

"Why don't you stay home today?" I looked up to see my mom standing in my doorway

"No I'm fine."

"Are you sure? That thing they brought up about Hannah and Zach.."

"I don't want to talk about it."

"You know that's not an answer anymore."

"I don't know how I feel about it ok?"

"So you really didn't know?"

"No."

"Don't start pulling away again ok?" She said and I nodded then she walked away, I waited until I was sure she was gone then I pulled out the pill bottle and quickly popped two in my mouth. I didn't want to keep feeling this ache in my chest I've had since I saw those texts. I looked at myself in the mirror still unsure of the girl who stared back at me then I grabbed my gym back and headed to school.

Liberty high's spring training was in full effect the soccer team was running drills, the baseball team were coming out of the gym and the cheerleaders were already outside. I didn't really know why though their season was over they didn't place at sectionals, and to be honest I laughed when I found out. I made my way to the track when I heard someone call my name I turned to see Jessica which made me smile

"Hey Jess." She gave me a hug

"Hey."

"Welcome back,"

"Thanks I'm kinda glad to be back actually."

"Jess?" I turned to see Chloe which made me roll my eyes

"I'll be there in a second." She said to her

"Hurry you have a lot of catching up to do." She said and Jessica nodded

"So your back on the squad?"

"Yeah Chloe has been really nice, and she offered me my spot back so I thought why not?"

"That's good I guess. Just uh watch out for her ok? She's not that nice and just a heads up she's dating Bryce." I said and she glanced at her

"I know she told me."

"How have you been?" I asked her

"I'm not circling the drain anymore but I can't say I'm ok either."

"Same here."

"Get this my dad made me join a support group." She said with a laugh

"Oh God I thought being forced to run trackways bad." I chuckled 

"How was court?"

"Honestly it sucked, I thought all of this was over, but it's just reliving the whole thing over again with a couple of added bonuses." I said rolling my eyes

"I heard about what happened this morning, I'm sorry ."

"People here are assholes." I said just as I heard a whistle

"Damn looking good Perri." Scott said looking at my legs as he, Monty and Zach headed to the field. Zach shoved him then looked at me but I just stared at the ground.

"What up with you two?" Jess asked after they were gone

"He's just not the guy I thought he was." I said and she looked at me I knew what she wanted to ask

"He's been gone as long as you have, nobody has seen or heard from him."

"I don't care." She said

"Jess come on." Chloe called

"I'll see you later?" She asked

"Yeah let's grab a coffee some time.." I said then we went our separate ways

After practice I was walking to my car after the declining the teams invitation to go for pizza. I rolled my eyes when I saw Zach leaning against my car

"I don't want to talk to you."

"Perri-"

"Save it! I don't want to talk, I don't even want to see you right now Zach!"

"Just let me explain."

"Why so you can lie to me someone? And to think I actually thought about giving you another chance."

"Perri I'm sorry."

"You're always sorry Zach."

"Why didn't you tell them the truth?"

"Because it's not my story to tell. A story that has a lot more details than I know about."

"It wasn't like that."

"Zachy! You comin?" Bryce called from the other side of the parking lot. Zach looked at him I took that moment to get into my car

"Perri-" I cut just slammed the door in his face. He stood there for a couple of seconds then walked away. My phone buzzed with a text

'Everything ok?'

'It's fine can u come over?'

"I'll be there in 30'
