I groaned, waking up on the floor, caught up in my sheets. After taking a quick shower, I ran a comb through my hair and threw on some jeans and a blue baseball tee, deciding to be more casual today. As I was opening the door to leave the flat, I let go of the handle. Stepping back a bit, I looked at the mirror that hung over a table. I smiled rather reluctantly, I felt like a normal teenager finally going out to buy a coffee for his girlfriend or something. I turned away and grabbed my car keys, making way to the public parking lot.

I drove off to the same run-of-the-mill café from the prior morning, hoping to see her again. I parked my car out front and sat down in the same corner booth. I drummed my fingers impatiently on the table, "Come on," I muttered under my breath. I turned around, facing the window, "She's probably not here." A hot breath fluttered on my shoulder, I turned around to face a brute at least 4 times my size with unnaturally red hair. "What can I get you," he said,
his voice low and rough. "I'll h-" I cleared my voice, which elevated due to nervousness, "I'll have the coffee only, thanks." He simply nodded, and I took this as my chance, "Is, uh, Miss Rosemary here," I piped up. He narrowed his eyes, "What d'you want with my girl friend," he growled, stalking forward, he was staring at me like I was a meal. "We're just friends!" I shouted hurriedly. He clenched his fist, and suddenly a voice shouted from the counter, "Get back to work, Dave!"
I gave a silent prayer, closing my eyes briefly, opening them only to see Rosemary standing in front of me. I jumped back a bit, startled.
"So we're friends now? You come to my café once and now we're friends?"
I gulped, thinking for an explanation or excuse to get me out of this tight spot.
"Don't you remember me? We went to high school together," I lied, probably not the most reliable one but it'll do till I can talk to her properly.
She furrowed her brow, "What's your name, again?"
"Liam," I said without a pause.
She tapped her chin, "I don't remember you being in my school."
" I was in the other class, that's why," I waved a hand dismissively. "Oh, well you do seem a bit familiar..." She paused, eyeing me suspiciously, "Why don't we go to the movies and catch up, yeah?" I grinned, "Yeah, totally."
She set a piece of paper on the table and smiled warmly, "Here's my number, I changed it a while ago, this's the new one." She walked off, a spring in her step.
