Breathless

Chapter four

Denaia POV

I look across the bedroom at my girlfriend Taya. We been dating for 2 years and I'm taking her to meet the gang. I haven't been home in three years so I'm kind of nervous about how all this is going to go. Me and Taya met at college. We had two classes together my freshman year and kind of hit it off. We been inseparable since.

My phone starts ringing and my mom picture flashes across the screen. "Hey mom we getting ready to hit the road now."I say. If I didn't oversleep I wouldn't of been running this late. I see Taya motioning that everything is in the car and that we can head out. I grab the car keys and make sure all the lights are out in our off campus apartment. I lock up and open Taya car door. She smiles and gives me a quick kiss on the lips. I shut her door and jog over to the driver seat and hop in buckling my seat belt. "Well I'm not gone hold you up. Call me when you make it in town Denaia." My mother says on the other end. We exchange our I Love you's and get off the phone.

I start the car and turn the XM radio on and pull off. Queen Naija new hit starts blasting through the speakers. I hum to the beat and stop at a gas station to fill up. I run in the store and get me and bae something to drink and a snack. I pay for everything and pump the gas. I hand Taya her snacks and open my peanut m&ms and place my drink in the cup holder. I get ready for this two hour drive and pull off.

An hour into the drive I see that babe fell asleep. When we hit slow traffic I reach in the basket and throw our blanket with our pictures from the last two years on her. She cuddled into the cover and turn her head getting comfortable. Traffic starts to pick up again. I turn the radio up when K. Michelle Rain comes on. Babe loves this song. I myself still prefer the original.

I see the sign saying we entering my hometown. I drive the fifteen minutes to get to Tremaine house. I nudge Taya to wake her up and let her know we arrived. She flips the visor down to look in the mirror and fix herself from the little static her hair gained while sleeping.

We get out the car and knock on the door. Maybe 30 seconds pass by and the door opens. Monique embraces me in a hug. I step in and introduce her to Taya. Taya asks where the restroom is and Monique points down the hall to the left. She walks off towards it. Everyone in the living room when I walk in and I say my hey's. I sit and watch the boys playing 2k.

Out the corner of my eye I see someone coming from downstairs and it's Destiny. I haven't seen her since our break up and damn shawty was looking good asf. I lick my lips and turn my head. Taya walks back in the room and I introduce her to everyone. Destiny must of heard my voice because she looks up and locks eyes with me. I introduce her to Taya feeling out of place. She smiles but it doesn't seem like she really cares.

This stud comes by and hugs Destiny from behind. I'm guessing this is the alexus girl Monique was telling me about. They look good together. Destiny introduces us and we both do a head nod. I turn around walking to sit down and Taya right behind me. Lord let me make it through the night with no drama. I thought I could be around Destiny but now I'm not so sure...
