I stared at his hand for a while, not sure what to do. Should I follow? I mean, I always knew he was a " badass" but would he really do something that would be really dangerous?

" It'll be fun", he said, but his smile seemed more strained, the lines around his eyes tightening.

I still didn't respond.

We were at the edge of the forest, and you can usually hear, birds chirping, and the water flowing, but not today. It was almost as if the world was holding t's breath, waiting to see what I would say.

But on the other hand, I really like Hayden, and saying no could ruin what we have. I really want him to go with me to Hellskits party, so saying seems like the smartest thing.

" sure." I shrugged and I put my hand in his. His was much larger and it enveloped mine. His hand felt warm, and I wasn't sure if it was good or bad.

He led me into the forest, the one no one is supposed to go in fear of death.

The forest was full of life and there was much too see. There were plenty of birds hopping around in the tree, the sound of the bushes when the rabbits would run. They moved so fast that every sudden move they made had me grabbing on to Hayden in fright. I think he liked that.

" where are we going?" I asked but he just smiled.

" you'll see, just be careful, and everything will be fine." that confused me.

" why do I need to be careful?" I asked. But he just shook his head.

" You don't want to know." I rolled my eyes, but I wasn't in the mood to argue.

We continued making our way to, well, wherever we were going when we passed a massive waterfall. The noise made blocked out everything else. It looked especially beautiful when the sunlight filtered the trees and reflected off the water.

Hayden turned to me and put his hands around my waist, and pulled me up close.

This is the moment, I thought. The moment we would kiss.

As he pulled me even closer, my heart fluttered. But out of nowhere, his eyes flashed, and he pulled me behind a large oak that was growing nearby.

His hand clamped my mouth shut. I tried to bite it, but he wasn't budging. My heart was now thumping. I was scared. I was starting to think that this was a trap, and he would kill me and bury my body in the woods.

Instead, he put a finger to his lips and whispered, " shhhhhh".

He took his hand off my mouth, and he pointed to behind the tree.

I peered behind it and I saw people, and it looked like they were scouting the land. To men, actually, and the looked much older than me and Hayde. Like they could cause some serious damage if they wanted to.

But they were definitely angels, no devil would have blonde hair like that. I couldn't see their wings, they were hidden under their suits.

" They're undercover angel soldiers, and they want to claim this land for themselves, that's why we are forbidden to enter." He breathed it into my ear. All I could do was nod, too afraid to be heard.

Hayden led me past the tree to and underbrush. We hid there, trying not to rustle the leaves to badly.

Once we were out of range, I sighed in relief. I never wanted to do that again.

" that was close wasn't it?" He smiled like it was a game. That made me mad.

" Not funny," I hissed. " We could have gotten killed, and no one would have known." I glared daggers at him, but he still was mellow.
