"12:30 and we're all still alive, Sierra." Rydel teased. "It's a miracle!"
Despite the fact that we've only known each other for less than a day, she seemed to think that there were no bounds as where she could go with me.
Teasing, asking personal questions, and just acting like she knew me my whole life. I guess you could call it being friendly, but I called it being a creep.
A slight chuckle left my mouth as I gaped out at Mindy and Ellington thrashing about in the water.
Their shrieks of laughter and squeals echoed throughout the almost deserted beach."What time do they close here?" I turned to Rydel, who was laying down on the dry sand.
"The beach it self doesn't close. The boardwalk closed at 10," Rydel dug her feet into the sand.
I stared down the waterline and rested my chin on my sandy knees.
The waves splashed on the sand calmingly and the moons reflected beautifully off the water.
It was such a soothing atmosphere.Maybe.... I thought. Maybe I shouldn't be such a worrier. There's nothing to really worry about here. No ones going to come and take us. Haha, I sounded like a baby....
My eyelids slid shut as I focused on the waves.
I deeply inhaled and exhaled salty sea air. There's nothing to worry about...
Nothing at all.The state of unconciesness crept into me.
My body relaxed almost completely as I started to drift to sleep. But sadly, it was interrupted by a low voice behind us.
"Mary, Ry and savannah are waiting for us in the van. We need to go."
"Can we just stay a little longer," Rydel replied in monotone. "We almost never come here."
"It's going to be one in the morning, you've been here since twelve in the afternoon...I think you've spent enough time here," he remarked.
My eyes fluttered open to find a very tall, tan, blonde boy towering above me.
"Who 'er you?" I questioned crackily.
He peered down at me, flicking his lemony hair out of the way. "Um, I'm Riker..." The tone in his voice sounded like I was supposed to know him.
"How've you been these days, Si?"How does he know my name...?
"O-okay I guess."
"That's good," he turned back to Rydel, "you need to be at the van in 10 minutes. Hurry up."
"Alright...now go away," she looked up at him.
The man rolled his eyes and set off towards the parking lot.
"Well, I guess we'd better get going. That was my-- well you know who he is," Rydel chuckled and stood up.
"I do?"
"Yes...don't you remember Riker?" She just looked at me.
"...why would I? I've never met him before in my life..."
"Si, stop faking. You know him," she shrugged a shoulder and began to make her way down to the water.
"No I don't as a matter of fact," her casualness annoyed me more, "and frankly, I don't appreciate you acting like you've known me all my life. I think it's a bit rude and I don't like it."
Rydel stopped and turned to me, confusing on her flawless face.
"Sierra. . . You seriously mean you don't remember us?"
"Apparently I don't," I crossed my arms over my chest. "Would you mind telling me?"
"I'm Rydel...remember? And Ratliff's over there in the water," her eyesbrows went up," and the man who was just over here is Riker."
"I know your names, but I don't understand why you think I know you."
"Lynch."
"What?"
"Lynch," she said, "I'm Rydel Lynch, that's Ellington Ratliff, and that was my older brother, Riker Lynch."
It hit me.
It finally hit me.
How could I be so oblivious?
How?My knees went a little weak just by looking at her and realizing that it was Rydel.
"D-Delly?" My voice went meek.
"I thought you knew it was us, Si," a slight smile cracked.
I shook my head. "I...I didn't recognize you at all... How did you remember me?"
"Sierra, we could never forget someone like you."
