— DUCK BUTTERCONCENTRATION overtook him, as he rummaged around in Angela's drawers for loose cash hanging around. "They've gone." His sister entered the room, leaning against the wall. Angela's cousins stayed the night, and Eddie didn't sleep a wink. "what're you doing kid?"
"Looking for spare cash." Eddie admitted. "Why?" Karen asked flatly. "I just need some."
He finally stopped searching, arms by his side, and stared at her. Karen's eyes narrowed, she didn't speak until she made up her mind about what she was going to say. "..you're doing it again." She said. "Doing what?" "The face." Eddie frowned. "What face?" He growled softly. "The 'we both know what's really going on here face'." The blonde admitted. Eddie knee she was right. Karen had some weird talent for reading people all the time. "Yes. I'm leaving." The man finally breathed out. She stood still for a moment, as if she were a statue waiting to be admired or longing to be crumbled to the ground. "Where'll you go?" Her voice was shallow, but not unkind. "What's it to you?" Eddie scoffed. "Uhh well," she widened her eyes to the side as she spoke. "I think mom would ask me of all people where you went, if you leave without telling her." She said, sounding annoyed. Uncrossing her arms, she stood her ground.
"..I don't know where I'll go."
Eddie finally answered her burning question.
"New York maybe." He rubbed her nose and tied his laces. "What?" Karen sounded confused. "Look, Angela already said, I can't stay here much longer. It's only a matter of time before I'm kicked out—." Eddie shook his inhaler, giving himself two puffs in. Karen put down her beer can and sat on Eddie's bed. "We're not kicking you out, Eddie." Karen frowned, hunching over and raising her shoulders as she planted her palms on the edge of the mattress.
"Sure sounds like it." He snarled, continuing to stuff clothes into his gypsy bag. "You've only been here five months." She said harshly, as if she didn't care. "Exactly my point." He huffed. "Look." The blue eyed girl stopped him in the door way, purposely blowing smoke in his face. "If you are leaving, I hope you find some happiness." She stepped aside. "I mean it." Smiling falsely, Karen let him by, bag in hand. "I could say the same to you, Karen." He said quietly. "Karen!" Angela called from the foyer. "I asked you to help me with the salmon," she said, frustrated. Eddie watched closely. His sister, already annoyed, rolled her eyes back and gritted her teeth. "I'll do it later, mom, just gimme a min-"
"I asked you already!" She hollered.
Eddie wanted to actually kill him self. The scent of fish roamed the house. "Mom I don't care if I told you or not I said give me a minute with Eddie!" Her choice of wording surprised him. Usually, it was fuck you or, eat pussy around the house. The boy's gut told him to immediately shut his door as it slightly drowned out the shouting and bickering that flooded outside his door.

"Beverly?"
He clutched the telephone firmly and swore that the palm sweat made him almost drop the phone from his grasp as he shook. "You called back!" The other voice cheered. "Y-yes I-"
"I uh," he began. "I was wondering if.." Eddie's word choice was not at all helpful. He looked at his sister, whom stood impatiently beside him in the doorframe with keen eyes as she silently cheered him on. 'keep going', she mouthed. Eddie blinked. "If I could, meet you guys." Beverly paused through the other end of the line. "Well of course you could come meet up with us!" She said, sounding slightly relieved. "Where, where are you currently?" She asked. "O-oh uh, Phoenix." He said. "Really?" She chuckled. "Why. Where're you guys?"
