One... Two... Three... Four... Five... Six.
Standing there counting leaves fall was the only thing I could do at the moment. My phone's battery died and I haven't seen a jeepney pass by for 30 minutes already. I could start walking but then I might walk all the way and I don't want that. It's hot and I showered in cold water and I feel clean. So, yeah.
So I just stood there at the jeepney stop and waited and kept repeating the phrase “Patience is a virtue” over and over in my head so I would feel better.
Suddenly, along far my right, I saw 3 guys walking and laughing their heads off while pointing at me. Well, at least I think it's me. I can't be sure because they were still far away. I ignored them and looked straight at my left and tried to make it look like I was waiting for the jeepney but theoretically, I was waiting for the jeepney.
Surprisingly, I heard jogging footsteps on my right and they seemed to have been getting louder which meant they were getting nearer. I closed my eyes and sighed as I dared myself to look to my right and I did when the footsteps stopped.
Chocolate Brown
It was the color of his eyes. A beautiful shade of chocolate brown. I smiled at him involuntarily. He was very handsome up close.
“Hi.” He said, smiling at me. He was red and flushed. I tried to conjure up any memory of him and me together but there wasn't any. I don't believe I've met him before.
“Hi.” I said, back at him. Why do I seem to be enjoying this?
“Uhm, you see those two douchbag hyenas over there?” He said as he pointed to the two men a few meters away from us. They were both laughing hysterically like they were watching the funniest comedy movie in the world.
“Yes. Uhm, would you mind telling me what's so funny?” I asked. I dared myself to ask him, thinking it's me they were laughing at.
“Me, actually. I am what's funny. See, we're playing Truth or Dare and I kinda chose Dare.” He said, blushing. “Actually, they forced me.” He gave a small laugh.
“Let me guess, the Dare involves me? Right?” I said feeling so lucky that I didn't leave and that the jeepney still hasn't arrived.
“Yeah. I am supposed to... uhm... I'm supposed to... uh... kiss... you. And I know that's really really weird and we don't know each other but -” He paused looking at me sweetly as he pursed his lips. “I feel like I'm supposed to kiss you...” He said. “Like this was meant to be.” Now, we were both blushing, I think. He smiled so brightly at me I thought for sure it was the sun. “Do you believe in love at first sight?”
“Is that speech part of the Dare?” I said laughing. “Cause I'm not buying it.”
We were both laughing. He had a cute smile and I was beginning to like him. Too bad, I don't know him and too bad, this is the first and last time we would probably see each other again. Oh life. Ain't it grand?
He looked at me sweetly now as the laughter subsided. I glanced at his two friends who were patiently waiting to see if he would do his dare. He very slowly took my hand and kissed it. I watched him as he did it and I was hoping that time would slow down so I could enjoy every moment of it. I really like this stranger and as he stared at me after, I stared back at his eyes. It was a beautiful shade of brown, it was. And before anything was said, I kissed him on the lips. I didn't know what came over me. It must have been the sun brightly shining on both of us, or the cool breeze that rolled in as our lips moved to the same rhythm. Or maybe it was the howling and glad shouting of his two friends as this beautiful stranger's hands found its way behind my back. It felt like forever as we kissed. And I never wanted the moment to end. It felt like my first kiss and this was better than my first.
