“You and Joe are really back together?” I say to Laura that night as we sit on the couch.  She just said that she got back from a date with Joe.

“Yes we are.” She says matter-of-factly, while flipping through the channels on the TV. I watch her, waiting for her to say more, but I realize she’s not.

“So what happened?” I ask impatiently.

“Well, we started running into each other a lot - I mean, we live right by Hollywood, how can we not? - and we decided to get back together.  He’s really a good guy and I know things will be tough with our different schedules but we will deal with it.” She explains.

“Well, you sound happy, sis.” I say.  In that moment, I am glad that we are close enough that we can tell each other these kinds of things.

When Mom was alive - she died when I was 9 - we were close, too.  I told her everything from boy troubles (yes, even back then I had a crush on a boy in my class) to not knowing what to wear to Rosie’s parties.

At dinner, everybody is quiet, probably just deep in thought.  Nobody has really asked me about the wedding plans yet.  I got the feeling that even though everybody has accepted the fact that we are getting married, they still didn’t approve.

As if reading my thoughts, Dad breaks the silence and says, “So Lindsi, have you and Nick decided on a date for the wedding yet?”

“Not yet.” I say. “But I was thinking about a spring wedding.” I haven’t told Nick this yet; I just thought of it right this second, because honestly, we were just taking our time with this engagement.  I haven’t really had time to think about the wedding with the album coming out and recording songs for weeks.  At least I got the wedding playlist done and the dresses for the bridesmaids picked out! I was currently looking at reception centers.  Even though I was getting married to a pop star, I just wanted a small, down to earth sort of wedding.  I know that I can have any place that I wanted - I even considered having a wedding at Disney- but the one that caught my eye at the moment was small - miniscule to Kev and Dani’s - but it was really nice.  A family friend would be the photographer.

“Linds, did you hear what I said?” Laura says bringing me out of my thoughts.

“Hm?” I say, obviously not paying attention.

“I said, do you have your colors picked out yet?” She says.

“Oh, yes. They are mint green, pink and brown.” I say.  I guess I forgot to show her the dresses I found. “I will have to show you the dresses I found -”

“You found some dresses?!” She squeals. “Yay, Linds! I can’t wait to see them!

It was now the beginning of November. We celebrated Kevin's birthday at a club and we danced, chatted and had a party.  There were a lot of celebrities there along with their respective bf/gfs.  Laura and Joe weren't hiding the fact that they were back together and she we first got here the paparazzi were flashing up a storm. Everyone wanted to see my ring and asked when the wedding was.  "Well, we haven't decided quite yet." Nick had said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.  "We've been pretty busy with work and such. We just want to enjoy the engagement for now."

A new song started to play now and Nick leads me onto the dance floor. I have been thinking about my mom a lot lately and thinking back to before she died.  I was only 9 but I was old enough to know that my parents were fighting quite a bit about finances and of course Dad being away so much, which is why they had hired Carla.
