It was a lively Sunday morning, birds chirping outside and the sounds of cars passing by. I woke up to the best view any man could have, his beautiful wife. I just laid there admiring her as she slept. Burning all her features into my mind, from her small freckles that covered her nose, to the small scar she had on her forehead that she got when she was younger. She awoke and gave me a huge smile. I smiled back and said " Good morning beautiful". She was quick with her response and said "Right back at you handsome". I leaned in and gave her huge kiss on her forehead. I stood up and said "I'll get breakfast going see you downstairs."  She replied "ok see you downstairs ." And blew me a kiss. I headed downstairs and as I passed by all of our pictures, I couldn't help but feel somewhat sad. This is the last day I'll get to see her in months. I ship off to the war first thing Monday. But I didn't want those feelings to ruin our last day together so I put them in the back of my mind. I got to the kitchen and started on making some breakfast. French toast with sausages and some fruit, her favorite by the way. I saw her coming downstairs and once again I couldn't help but just admire her beauty. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. She looked at me and said "What? Do I have something on my face?" I chuckled and said "No, you just look amazing!" She just smiled. "Ok I have breakfast ready" I said. Her face light up and said "Ooo my favorite!" We sat down and ate till we were full. Once we finished we headed back upstairs to get ready for church. She wore a beautiful yellow dress with flowers covering it and her hair in a bun. She looked more amazing then ever today. Her blue eyes more vivid due to the yellow of her dress. I wore something simple a blue suit and black dress shoes. We headed downstairs to get to the car but she quickly turned around and said "Oh I forgot something go on ahead, I'll be back down shortly." I replied "Ok, I'll be in the car waiting." Few minutes passed and she came out and got in the car. I said" Not forgetting anything this time?" She simply replied "Nope I have all I need right here." I smiled and said "Ok let's hurry, we are running late". Our church wasn't very far, it just took us a little over ten minutes to get there.

We arrived at the church and luckily there was a parking spot close to the entrance. I parked and got out to open her door. " Oh my what a gentleman!" She said. I chuckled and said"Come on we have to hurry." We entered the church and since we were late every one turned around to look at us, as soon as we opened the doors. The pastor was already in the process of reciting the word of god. Today's sermon was hitting home a lot. It talked about family and how our family is the closest thing we could have to a god on earth. How we need to cherish them and love them before it's too late. I turned and looked at my wife and she turned to looked at me and saw the sadness in my eyes. She whispered to me" Are you ok?" I smiled and said "Yea of course!" And looked forward pretending I was fine. But in the back of my head all I could of think of is losing her and not coming back home. Out of nowhere she softly held my hand and all those thoughts melted away. I looked to her and she was smiling and said "I love you and whatever your thinking about is not gonna happen!" At that moment I couldn't have been more in love with her. I smiled back at her and said " I love you too, and of course it's not gonna happen." We continued to hear the word god and shortly after it was over. We said our goodbyes to our friends at the church and headed to our car. Once inside she looked at me and said "Is there anything you want to talk about?" I simply shook my head and said "No". I didn't want to ruin our day. So I put on a smile and said "Wow it's such a beautiful day how about we go for a walk around the park and feed the ducks!"  She smiled back said "I'd love that."

We got to the park around noon. We got out the car and saw lots of people here. I turned to her and said " Wow looks like a lot people had the same idea as us." She looked at me and said " Of course on a day like this you have to take advantage of it and go out." I smiled and took her by the hand and we walked to a more secluded area of the park. She held my hand with most tender touch, and I couldn't help but feel like I was in heaven. I couldn't think of anything better then this. We continued to walk, occasionally stopping to take in the beauty around us. We stop by the small snack shack the city had built there. We bought some duck feed and a few snacks for ourselves. I looked at her and just seen the excitement on her face. I knew she was ready to feed the ducks. We continued to walk an finally we reached our destination. It was by these old oak trees that have been there since we were kids. Our initials still engraved into them from our first date. She walked over to the lake front and started to gently throw the feed into the lake. Quickly the ducks hurried to her side and began to eat it up. I walked over and helped. She looked extremely excited to be feeding them. Her smile was blinding but I couldn't look away. Once the feed was done we headed back under the tall oaks and laid underneath them. She looked at me and said " It's ok if your somewhat afraid you know. I would be terrified if I was in your position."  I looked back at her and said "I know, but it's my duty to do this so you want have to. And me being afraid never!" I said. "The only thing I'm afraid of is not coming back to you." I said shortly after. She looked back at me with tears in her eyes and said " That's what I'm afraid of also!"  I reached over and pulled her closer to me holding her in my arms. "That's never gonna happen cause I'm going to come back to you!" I said with extreme confidence. She looked up at me and gave me a huge kiss. I held her tighter and gave her another one right back. Time must have slipped us cause we didn't even noticed that the sun began to set. We stood up and saw the sun set over the lake and started walking back to our car.

We got to the car and headed home. I enjoyed these night times drives with her, it was simplest things that made me happy. We arrived home and she began to make dinner. " I'll cook up your favorite!" She yelled from the kitchen. I know what that means, lasagna with garlic knots and a cold beer. "Sounds good!" I replied. I headed upstairs to get changed. Excited for the meal my wife was preparing for me. I came back downstairs with some jeans a white tee and socks. She took one look and said " Wow you clean up good!" With a sarcastic voice. "Haha very funny! Is dinner almost ready?" I replied. "Twenty more minutes! Go and sit on the couch and watch something, I'll call you when it's ready." I head to the living room and sat down patiently waiting for her to call me. I turned on the the tv and browsed through the channels. Nothing good was on so I put on the local news. First thing they started talking about was the departure times and how many casualties have been accounted for. I quickly shut it off. My mind started racing once again. The fear of not coming home. The fear of losing her. I couldn't take it, suddenly I heard a yell that brought me back down to earth. It was my wife calling me for dinner. I took a deep breath and put on a smile. I stood up and headed back to the kitchen. As I turned into the kitchen I saw the spread my wife has laid out. It looked like something out of a magazine. "Wow this looks amazing! Now I remember why married you!"  I said jokingly. "Here I thought you married me for my brain." We both laughed. We sat down and started to eat. It was all very delicious, from the lasagna to the oven baked garlic knots fresh out the oven. "Ahh that hit the spot. Thank you so much for the meal." I said. She looked and me and said "This isn't all of it." I looked at her with a confused face. "What else is their?" I said. She headed to her purse and took out a small box. She handed it over and had a look of fear but still filled with excitement. "What's this?" I said with a confused tone. "Just open it already!" She said excitedly. I carefully opened the small box. What was inside took me by surprise. It was a pregnancy test! I looked up at her, "Is this what I think this is?" I said. She smiled and simply said "Yesss!"  I couldn't believe it I was gonna be a dad. I set the box down and hurried to my wife's side. I gave her a huge kiss and a tight hug. " You've just made me the happiest guy in the world!" I replied as I picked her up into my arms. "I thought you weren't going to be excited." She said. " why wouldn't I be happy you've just given me the opportunity to share my love with our future baby. Our family just got bigger!" I said with a excited tone. We headed to our room and didn't even bother to clean up.

As we laid in bed, we couldn't stop talking about what we were going to name our future baby. "What should we name her is she's a girl?"my wife asked. "How about Ariel?" I said. "I love it! What if it's a boy what should we name him?" She replied. "How about you choose this one." I said to her. "I really like the name Gabriel." She said. "Sounds great to me!"  I couldn't have been more happier at that moment. "Ok it's settled then if it's a girl we will call her Ariel and if it's a boy we'll call him Gabriel." She said. I simply replied "perfect". We laid in bed for the rest of the night while I gently rubbed her stomach. Just imagining all the things we could do as a family. She eventually fell asleep in my arms. I kissed her goodnight and just I laid there once again watching her. Admiring her beauty, wishing this moment would last forever. "You've just given me another reason to come back home and I thank you for that! I love you." I gently whispered to her. But this moment would soon end come tomorrow morning. So I just took what I could get and didn't complain. I slowly drifted off to sleep thinking about my wife and our future child. Now with a even bigger determination to come back home safe for them.
