His family lived in the border of the Wens and the empire and so wars often broke out in the place where they are. His mother and father were always out, and so he was left alone in the house. However, one time, his parents brought a pair of siblings – one girl and one boy. They are Wens. However, they are not enemies. His mother and father raised them together with him. However, one day, the Wens broke into their house. Wen Qing and Wen Ning were the family members of the Wen leader. The Wens accused his parents of kidnapping the siblings. However, it was the siblings’ parents entrusted their child to his parents as they fled from their clan. Then, they were killed. His parents killed those who killed the siblings’ parents. Now, the Wens are going to kill his parents. He was originally hiding since he was playing with the siblings before. However, he never saw the siblings after. He never saw his parents next. He suffered hunger for days he hasn’t eaten as he continued to hide. Then, he broke into a high fever. He fainted, then he had an amnesia. He finally went out of his hiding and wandered in the streets. Jiang Fengmian then found him.

He turned when he heard a neigh. He saw a horse. It was Lan Wangji’s horse before he was swallowed by the snow. He walked towards it and patted its mane. “He is thoughtful… or that’s just what I thought?” he muttered, then chuckled. He mounted on the horse and was about to leave when he heard a shout afar. The voice is very familiar he can never forget it. His pupils shrank. Wen Ruohan! He is still alive! He thought and sharply turned. Then, he immediately made the horse gallop towards the Imperial City.

He must tell them the news!

The emperor Lan Qiren touched his long beard as he watched the bustling city celebrating the return of the heroes for killing Wen Ruohan. This is a joyful occasion since the plague in their borders is now gone.

“Thank you, heroes!” the citizens greeted them.

However, they responded with gloomy expressions, which is unfitting with the celebration. Even the three generals Lan Xichen, Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao is sullen. How can they take the honor of a brave soldier away, even if that soldier is a traitor? Wait… they all thought and stopped. They looked at each other. “He killed Wen Ruohan.” Jin Guangyao said.

“But he is a traitor.” Nie Mingjue frowned.

“So… did he really kill Wen Ruohan?” Lan Xichen asked.

“Or… is Wen Ruohan… still alive?” just as Jin Guangyao’s voice fell, the three of them became tense.

“If he is not a traitor, then Wen Ruohan is dead.” Lan Xichen said.

“But if he is…” Nie Mingjue said.

As soon as the words was said, the three of them heard the galloping hooves. They turned and their eyes went wide when they saw Wei Wuxian. “You - !” Nie Mingjue said.

Wei Wuxian frowned. “I am not a traitor. I only said it to save your younger brother from punishment since he likes to butt in others’ problems.” He cut him off, then said. “But Wen Ruohan is alive.” He told them.

Their jaw dropped. “Then you are a traitor – “ Jin Guangyao said.

Wei Wuxian’s brows raised. “It was really a mistake not to blow that scum’s head off. However, if I didn’t cause an avalanche then most, or all, of our people will be dead by now.” He explained. “Again, I am not a traitor.” He said.

“Then why are you calling Wen Ruohan’s name?” Lan Xichen asked.

“Revenge… and to save people.” Wei Wuxian answered, then explained himself.
