Chapter 2

"There are 8 days until Christmas, so I need to get my parents gifts and I'm freaking out because I have no idea what to get them. I think I will get my mom jewelry, but for my dad, I have no clue." I say to Celine. I look down at my small light brown, fake wood desk. My phone is sitting on my desk blaring music into my ears because the volume won't turn down. My fingers are clicking on the keys of my computer. I turn to the side to glance at Celine, and she's asleep, which I don't blame her because I'm tired too. I nudge her gently as the teacher walks by.

"What do you want," she asks sleepily. I tell her that the teacher was walking by, and she goes back to sleep. I take a sip of my coffee and turn back to the board where the teacher, Ms. Williams, is giving a lecture about how to show your work for 2+2, which is not part of our lesson.

I go to P.E., and then I go home by myself and change from my jeans and a sweatshirt to sweatpants and a long sleeve. I get back in my Prius with my bag and a reusable cup and head over to Starbucks. Once I get there, I see my dad ordering coffee, so I go up to him and try to scare him. He turns around before I get to him, so that didn't work out.

"Hi Allie," my dad asks, "how was school?"

"Pretty good," I say because it's my normal answer, and I'm pretty sure that's almost every other kid's answer when anyone asks them how school was. But today I'm not lying, school is pretty great the week before winter break. We don't do a lot because finals were last week and everyone is tired. Everyone just goes on their phones.

"Well, I have to go. See you at home!" My dad yells from across Starbucks. I order an iced matcha latte and go sit down at a big table. I pull out my computer and my homework and start doing it.

"Allie! Order for Allie!" my favorite barista, Lily yells out. When she realizes it's my drink she walks around the counter and gives the latte to me.

"Wow, this is service!" I joke, "Thank you!"

"Your welcome," Lily replies while she laughs, "good luck on your homework!"

After that, I finish my homework and drink, and clean up the area. I go out to my car, once again and turn on my playlist at full volume. I turn on my playlist and start driving home. Once I get home, I go into my room. My room is really my style. It has a huge window that overlooks the ocean and the beach. When my mom or my dad takes my dog out for a "walk", I see her running along barking at the ocean. My bed is right next to the window, and it has a rose-colored duvet cover with gray and pink blankets messily thrown on. I don't have a bed frame, but I like it low to the floor. All of my memories are on my walls, above my bed, my desk, around my mirror, and on top of my dresser. A lot of people would call my room messy, but it's me and that's all that matters.

                                                                                      ************

"Stop!" Celine yells as Sarina chases her up and down the stairs of my house. Yaabi and I watch in amazement as Celine trips and falls onto a soft carpeted stair, "Owwww!"

"What are you doing?" I ask. My parents are out of town for the weekend and they, surprisingly, let me have them over.
