"Almost, almost is never enough," Ariana's words swarmed my mind as began to get into my feelings. With me and Kaeden, I thought the love was genuine. From birth we were inseparable, he was like a brother... Well that was until our freshman year of high school and I realized I was in love with him. I didn't know he felt the same until he told me that he loved me the summer of our sophomore year. I, of course, didn't believe him. He was the upcoming star of our schools basketball team and had girls approaching him left to right, but he chose me.
We went strong until our freshman year of college. Then popularity got to him and he thought that it would be okay to step out and and cheat on me with half of the female population at our school. Once I found out about his infidelity, I was not only crushed about he fact that he cheated on me, but that I was a month into my pregnancy and that my child wouldn't have a father in his or her's life. I grew up without a father and I know how it feels, and I didn't want my child to experience that.
I figured I could transfer, with out telling him I was pregnant and that that's how I ended up in Los Angeles, California, a single mother and star player for the UofLa Collision basketball team, with prospects of playing for the Sparks once I graduated this year.
I can admit raising Kaideon on my own for the past two and a half years hasn't been easy especially with juggling playing basketball, working, and managing my studies; I make it work though.
It could've been easier having the help of Kaeden but, things aren't always the way you want them to be.
Currently I'm packing our bags to go on the road to my old school to play. I just hope and pray that we don't run into Kaeden because knowing him it's bound to be World War III, but if we do happen to bump into each other, I'll handle in the most mature way that I can.
"Mommy, can I bring my new Spider-Man toy?" Kaedeon asked running into my room with the action figure in his hand.
"Yes, baby," I said turning around, "but I'm going to need for you stop running in the house before you hurt yourself ok?"
"Ok mommy, I'm sorry," he replied getting into my bed.
"Are you sleepy Kae?"
"Yes,"
"Well, get some sleep. We have to get up early in the morning. Mommy has a game.""Ok, goodnight Mommy," he yawned closing his eyes.
"Night baby, I love you," I said kissing his forehead.
"I love you too,"
