Don't Start Now

Blueband weaved her way through the trees, away from the commotion of the families. Since it was camping season, everyone was off-guard and ready to enjoy the warmth after the winter. Dr. Morocco sent her to start a forest fire, since she didn't want to burn another building and kill another citizen. He said that this would help sharpen her senses and get her more used to committing crimes in secret, and he sent her with a gun in the belt of her pants. She'd light a matchstick, watch the flame dance around before throwing it to a tree and allowing the fire to the work. Before she could even grab the matchbox though, she heard voices behind her. They stopped, and she spun around to face the team, once again. They were all in their holoforms, though, and Chase and Windbreaker were holding hands. I guess their relationship was official now.

"Blueband..." Blades gasped as if he was surprised to see her.

"Blades," she replied stiffly, continuing to light the matchstick.

"You said that you didn't recognize us last time Heatwave and I saw you," he said.

"Oh, darling, you know I like to play." she teased, smiling playfully.

"What do you think you're doing?" Heatwave asked sternly.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" she retorted. "I'm lighting a matchstick."

"But what are you really doing, Blueband?" Windbreaker interrupted, giving her a suspicious look. She's who I really had to look out for.

"Well what are you really doing, Windbreaker?" She asked, returning her look. "It seems pretty quick that you and Chase are already, how do you say, in love? I would think it would take more time for you two decide you wanted to date."

"Leave her out of this Blueband." Chase growled protectively.

"She started it." She murmured childishly to herself.

"What was that?" Chase demanded, stepping forward in front of Windbreaker.

"Hm? Oh! I was saying that I should put out this flame, it might burn me." She bluffed, smiling sheepishly as she ratted out the short flame. "There we go."

"What did you really say?" Chase demanded again, stepping closer to her. By fake instinct, she pulled out her shotgun, pointing it straight at him. All stopped, and they just stared at her.

"You've changed, Blueband." Boulder softly said. "It's not too late to come back."

"Yes it is." Chase interrupted, keeping eye contact with her.

"I'm sure it is, besides I'm perfectly happy where I'm at." She insisted with a bright smile. Though she fully meant to say it, it killed her inside to mean it. "Now, I don't want to kill someone, again, but I'm afraid this one right here might beat me to it." Gasps all around her sounded.

"You killed Deputy Barney?!" Blades exclaimed loudly.

"No, the fire did, but yes, I started the fire," she admitted proudly, putting away her gun.

"I can't believe you!" Chase shouted angrily, almost attacking her if it weren't for Boulder and Heatwave holding him back.

"See? I'm not welcome among you anymore." She said, scrunching her nose disgustedly as she lit another matchstick and tossed it to a tree, then walking away.

Windbreaker

After a few moments of silence from getting back to base, Boulder was the first to speak up.

"Blueband has really changed, hasn't she?" he softly asked, leaning forward. "She was hardly recognizable when I first saw her."

"Yeah, it's like she's a completely different person." Blades agreed, sitting down beside him.
