"What do you mean, 'crown' ?" I asked.
"Oh, so I think I have some explaining to do. Well, no worries. Sit down, and Joshua, mind giving us a minute or two?" And Joshua left, I was lead to a place that had a large sofa, and 3 other smaller ones.
"I know you may have questions, but, I think some of those are already answered by Joshua, am I correct?"
I just simply nodded.
"Ask me your questions, then."
"May I know first what time is it?"
He pointed to a majestic, round, wooden clock on a blank wall. "It's 9:40, but the sedative was supposed to knock you out for two more hours. But, it's fine."
"I don't want ask questions at first, because I think I know that this fairly happens to Eves, like me."
"It does actually. I thought you would burst out of the door and get out of here."
"But, the only question that I want answered, for now... is the one I asked earlier."
"If you insist," he sat up, posture fixed into a straighter position than the last.
"But first, tell me what you know." He persuaded.
"All I know us that when an Eve turns 18, and the 2nd full moon after her birthdate rises high into the sky, it means that the Eve is now ready to be caught. And, I also know that an Eve is not allowed to run away from her destiny, which is marry the man who drank her blood until her skin was so perfect and has no veins to be seen at all."
"Because you told me what you know in return I'll answer your question that you want answered." He stood up and went to a cabinet and pulled out a chess board. He arranged the set, and looked back up to me.
"The crown has a meaning, think of chess, the king is the weakest piece of the game and but when you have it, you win the whole game, as for the Queen, she is the most powerful piece, and once she's out, there's a big possibility that the king will not be protected." He said, motioning each piece.
"Well, let's switch their roles," he exchanged the two pieces' it's own places and pointed a finger at me.
"And you an Eve, is the Queen, you are now the importance of the whole game. If you are called an Eve, we, vampires believe that an Eve, you, has a crown. And whoever has that crown, has power to give immortality... if we vampires ask for it correctly, at the right time and at the right place." He then retracted his finger.
"The Diabolik Vow, also known as.. Adam'sPromise."
