This truly depends on the time of the scenario. She started out as a thief (this is pre-meeting Rocket and Groot), then, she became a Bounty Hunter ( alongside Rocket and Groot, Pre- GOTG), and eventually became a Guardian of the Galaxy ( currently ) After/during the events of the Decimation, she became somewhat an Avenger.
In an Alternative Universe, she is actually on and off again with the Guardians, refusing to leave her bad side.

Again, this depends on the time. She was formerly associated with her family (The Blaire Family) before being left for dead with her brother. Soon after the betrayal of her family, the siblings met Rocket and Groot. They quickly became allies and they stuck around until her brother decided to go on his own path. This is what led her to Kyln and her fellow Guardians. The rest is history.

• Background •
Saraya was born on May 26 of 1989, to Elizabeth and Cedric Blaire on this lovely place called Earth. She lived there for most of her life in a small, quite-great apartment with her parents and sister. That is before, cops showed up at their door. The 8-year-old Saraya at this point had been raised rather well, being taught not to do anything bad of any sorts. She hadn't known anything her parent's past in inter-galactic thievery. That is until the cops showed up at their door in an attempt to arrest her family. Her parents, seemingly have done this before knocked out the few policemen and brought their children, few pieces of clothing and personal belongings. Into the car, into the middle of seemingly nowhere. That is where her mother pulled out some sort of remote. Just like that, they were on a ship in the middle of nowhere. Her parents brought the family to space, where they were now taught to learn the art of thievery without being caught. This had gone well, all the thievery and robberies...until they stole from a fellow thief and they were getting a rather larger loot. Saraya was the bait, Maximus deciding to tag along. Saraya distracted the owner of a large amount of money, while Maximus used his powers to get it. Their family almost got the cash and got away, until guards caught it and arrested her and her older brother. He was grabbed, and she was caught, being in front of the leader. The 15-year old and her older, 18-year-old was placed in jail. Their sister, Jupiter had attempted to free them, getting killed in an attempt to do so alone. They both, of course, saw this all and needed to escape. They met fellow arrested thieves Rocket Raccoon and Groot, of which they helped them escape. Herself and the giant talking tree got along quite well, her brother and Rocket having more intellectual conversations. Rocket took a liking to the duo and taught her a few things before deciding to let her join them. They had all been arrested together multiple times and escaped together multiple times. Being with the two caused her to be with them for the arrest on Kyln, as she was part of the four trying to capture Quill, her brother going after Gamora
• Personality •
Saraya is the assumed 'Bad-Ass'. She doesn't seem to follow rules well and doesn't seem to have many friends. But, that isn't the case. She's a rebel with a cause. She can make friends with ease, if she wants and she has a few from past experiences, She is easily an amazing spy, being the quiet and slick person she is. Growing up in outer space, with a family who needed her only as a distraction, she grew up to learn to not-be-herself, to blend in with the crowd. She used to use her looks too charming her family's victims. As she grew older, however, she saw the bad in her parents after all that had happened. She put up a wall that she'd only let down if she grew a liking to you. But, don't get confused. She is a flirt. She flirts. A lot. She tends to have a lot of flings and what-not, even after the Guardians formed. Being with the guardians made her personality grow from dull and gloomy to rather... colorful. The female found a snarky and highly sarcastic sense in herself. Along with quite the confidence and ego. She became quite sociable and more friendly, given the people she was around. She learned to be quite comedic and caring, learning to love again.
