"What! " I pinch myself to make sure that I am still sleeping and dad didn't just say that.
"You heard me … you are going to be a maid in the Oh family. " Dad replied. And he say it like it's no big deal and like it is VERY COMMON to SELL their daughter to some stranger 's family to be a maid.
I mean who does that? This stuff only happen in the drama right?
"Your dad is not joking. You are going to be the maid in the Oh family " Mom smiled. SMILE! YES SHE SMILE AT THE FACT THAT ME YOO RI HER ONE AND ONLY DAUGHTER IS GOING TO BE SOLD TO SOME RANDOM FAMILY TO BE A MAID!
What is she think? Are we really that desperate? Yes we might be poor, but I took two part time jobs after school and we have income! And since I had always do well in my studies, I didn't have any tuition! And I have scholarship too, we don't even need to worry about my school fees!
"Mom, dad, we have enough money …" I begin, trying to sound calm and compose. " I'm sure there is no reason for me to be sold to anyone 's family to be a maid. "
"Too late dear " mom said still smiling. " we had signed an agreement and you are moving TOMRROW. "
WHAT! ARE THEY NUTS? I 'VE BEEN SOLD TO SOMEONE I DON'T EVEN KNOW AS MAID AND WILL BE LIVING WITH THEM TOMORROW AND I ONLY KNOW IT TODAY!?!?
"Why? Don't you love me anymore? " I pretended to cry hoping to make them feel guilty and finally realise how stupid they sound and bailout from this agreement.
"Darling, of course we love you but your dad wants to start his own business and we need money, lots of money for that, but don't worry, the Oh family is your father's old friend. They will take care of you. " Mom said. Seeing that there is no way out for me I grumbled. " Fine! But who are they? "
"Don't worry, " said Dad who had been keeping quiet till now.
