Orange tinted light streamed into my bedroom earlier than normal, but I didn't mind it. I climbed out of the familiar warmth of my bed and went downstairs to make a cup of strong brew coffee. On my way down I met up with Ellie, who was already dressed in her school uniform. The attire consisted of a green plaid skirt and a white, short sleeved polo shirt. Earlier this morning she had tied her sunset curls into a tight high ponytail; A black ribbon tied neatly around her hair tie.
"Good morning darling! Did you sleep well," I greeted as I reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Morning dad! I slept fine... just the usual nightmares..." her voice trailed off as she slipped on her black flats.
"I'm sorry darling... you know I miss her too...."
"I know dad." I hugged her tightly, then made my way around the stairs to the kitchen. The scent of coffee filled the house. Rich and warm.
Soon I was sipping my coffee while sitting by the fireplace. Longing for the warmth that Eliza once gave me. "Bye dad! See you this afternoon!"
"Bye darling," I replied as my daughter skipped out the door. Eliza was my beautiful wife. The mother of Ellie, and the mother of not only Ellie, but her twin brother. Elias.
