Betty's POV
I kept thinking back about what happened yesterday. Something must have happened to Veronica when she went outside to talk to Archie, because she ran out of Pop's in such a rush. I tried calling her but she has turned off her phone. I also tried asking Archie is anything had happened to her while they was talking that made her leave in such a hurry. He didn't even answer me. I really hope nothing bad has happened to her, I didn't even see her at school. She usually would text be if she's not coming. She has been acting super weird since yesterday, she also didn't eat at lunch and at Pop's. I can tell there is something bothering her, but she hasn't been opening up to me about what's bothering her. Even last year when she moved here, sure she's my best friend but she never talks about her past. She always avoids that topic like the plague, so I just stopped asking her about it.
Although she never talks about her past, I know I can trust her. She has been a really good friend the past year, she always helped me without fail when I needed help and she always put others before her, it's what made me fall for her in the first place. But I know she doesn't see me like that.
Suddenly there was a rapid knocking on my door. I quickly opened it to see Veronica sobbing profusely at my my door step wearing a really revealing dress for her as she tends to wear dresses with long sleeves. I went towards her and pulled her in, once she was in my house I led her into my room. I sat her on my bed a gave her a hug and let her cry in my shoulder while I comforted her best as I can and whispered sweet nothings in her ear.
After around two hours the sobbing stopped. I gently lifted her from my shoulder to realise that the only reason why she has stopped crying was that she has fallen asleep because she exhausted herself from all the crying.
I gently wiped away her tears with a tissue and laid her on my bed, that's when I saw her arms littered with cuts and a bruise shaped like an hand on her. I wonder what had happened to her that made her cry so badly like this. Hopefully she will tell me when she wakes up, I just wanted her to have someone to talk to.
I gently laid next to her sleeping body and embraced her. The next morning I woke up to find her missing. Where has she gone? Did I do something wrong? God I hope I didn't, I can't live with myself if I did something wrong. Well let's hope I would see her in school.
I went to take a shower and get ready for school. After I was done, I quickly rushed to school hoping to see Veronica there. I spotted her talking to Cheryl and Toni, I quickly rushed up to her and gave her a hug.
"Why the fuck weren't you next to me when I woke up? You made me so worried! Please don't ever do that again."
" I'm sorry" she mumbled
I turned to face a confused Cheryl and Toni, " Hey guys, is it okay if I take V away from you guys? I need to talk to her."
" Ummm....sure. What happened anyways?"
"Tell you later!" I said as I dragged a protesting Veronica away with me.
"Yes?" Veronica questioned "what do you need?"
I rolled my eyes. "really Veronica? You come to my house last night crying your eyes out and the next morning I wake up to find you missing and you just ask me what I need." I raised my voice a little in anger.
She looked down at her feet guiltily. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to wake you up so I just left."
I immediately felt bad for raising my voice at her, she looks so vulnerable right now. " look V I'm sorry for raising my voice, but you do know that you could have a least left a note saying you were leaving. And could you maybe tell me why there are cute and a bruise shaped like a hand on your arm?"
Her face went pale and she stammered "I...I...I...."
