Erik
"So who thinks they know what we're playing?" Seth asks, looking at me. I just glare at him.
Most of the people from the part have left now. It's just Bella, Sam, Jason, Seth, Cody, and me.
"No one? In that case. We are playing truth or dare, with an added rule."
I watch as the color drains from Cody's face.
"No sticking the truth every turn. Every other turn you will have to pick dare."
Great.
"So who wants to start?" Seth asks, clapping his hands together.
"I'll start. How are we doing this?" I'm surprised when Cody's sweet voice pipes up. I can tell from everyone's expression that I'm not the only one surprised. Everyone but Seth at least. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
"You'll ask everyone truth or dare. And once you've asked everyone, Jason will go next."
She takes a minute before smiling and looking at Bella.
"Bella. Truth or Dare?"
"Um...truth?"
"Have you yet had your first love?"
"No."
"Sam, truth or dare."
"Truth."
"Have you ever kissed a girl?"
"Nope."
She pauses before saying my name.
"Erik, truth or dare?"
It's Cody. It can't be that bad.
"Dare."
She takes a minute to think.
"I dare you to...drink a concoction I make."
"Sounds fair."
We follow her to the kitchen. With some help from Seth she makes a pretty good dare. She blends up a little bit of dog food, shredded chicken, cheese, water, orange juice, and pickles.
Seth whispers something in her ear.
"No." She says harshly.
He whispers again in her ear.
"Fine."
She walk up to me swallowing her nerves.
"Here ya go, baby. Hope you enjoy."
Shocked, I take the glass from her hands and take it like a giant shot. It's nasty but I force myself not to spit it in her face. I slam the glass down on the counter when I'm finished, triumphant. If she can flirt so can I. Who knows, maybe Seth won't go to hard on the whole bet thing.
"Damn babe. You defiantly know to make a guy swallow the jitters."
Not the best line I've ever said to a lady but she smiles anyway. We walk back . The living room and she continues with the game.
"Seth, truth or dare?"
It goes on like that till it's Seth's turn to ask everyone.
"Cody, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Have you ever been kissed?"
"No."
Bye the time Seth gets to Sam, I'm shaking. I start to realize that I have no choice but to pick Dare.
"Erik. Truth or dare?"
I have no choice and Seth knows it.
"Dare."
Seth smiles.
"I dare you..."
Here it comes. The bet to come right back and kick me in the ass.
"...to..."
He can't make it that bad, he's my friend.
"...kiss Cody for twenty seconds. And to make sure you do the dare, we get to count down the seconds."
In front of everyone. I haven't even asked her on a date!
I know my face is burning red as everyone waits in anticipation. Sam leans behind Bella to whisper something to Cody. I watch as her eyes glisten, her facing glowing from the heat of the fire place. Everything starts to slow. Cody moves toward me, leaning forward, when a hot sensation goes threw my whole body giving my goosebumps. The kiss is warm and sweet.
"Ten Mississippi."
I hear in the background. It's only a whisper. All I'm really aware of is Cody. Her lips against mine, so close I can smell her jasmine perfume. All I want is to get closer to her, but I can't move. It's as if her touch has paralyzed me. Just as it begins, it ends. She pulls away from me, smiling.
"Man, she's got more guts than you!" I hear Jason say.
"What did you say to her?" Seth asks Sam.
"That's for her to know and for Erik to find out." Sam responds.
"Boys, there's romance in the air."
The night is young and the party is just beginning.
Cody
As I pull away from Erik, my breath comes back.
What have I done? Will this ruin any chance of a "relationship"? Do we even have a "relationship"? Do we have a "thing"? Do I even like him in that way? I don't know.
Erik is smiling, obviously s in shock by what I've done. Sam pulls me up onto my feet and his words echo in my mind as if evoked by his touch.
This is only the beginning. You know what to do. Follow your gut, Cody. Kiss him.
Those words took me over. Before I knew it, I had been kissing Erik.
"Come on, girl. The party's just started now that's out of the way."
I leave Sam and walk over to Bella.
"You two are adorable. But I must admit, I didn't expect anything like the performance you played.
"I bet," I say staring blankly out the window.
"Something wrong?"
"Who is that?" I ask. An older lady stares at me threw the window but as Bella turns to look, she vanishes.
"I don't see anybody. Are you sure your ok?"
"I'm fine. Let's not stray to much from the party."
We walk with the guys and load up into Seth's truck. Bella and Sam sit up front on the bench seat with Seth. Erik, Jason, and I are in the back seat. I'm glad I'm not sitting in the middle, Erik is. We pull out of the driveway, and I realize I'm not going home tonight.
