Chapter 1
Levee Tamel looked up and out the window, from her latest read. The town news in Sioux Falls was the same nearly every day now. Nearly every day in the running, bodies were found in repulsive conditions that were mostly unrecognizable, drained dry. Except this week the killer had taken a different direction, doing the same thing just changing the appearance of the empty corpse. How could someone think this is fun? She was starting to think this person was an artist before taken on their second job. A murderer. A cold-hearted fiend.
Levee sat just staring out the window mulling over how long it will take until it was her shriveled up in the grave, empty of the fluid that is supposed to be flowing through your system. Looking back at the glossy page of Sioux Fall’s magazine she read the re-arising title ‘another victim of the mysterious creature…’ Levee wanted to scream and shout to the slayer how she hoped he was happy for what he has done to these innocent people he had hunted down, but he wouldn’t hear her. Maybe he would, but would just laugh and say ‘what are you going to do about it.
“I’ll tell you blo…what I’ll do about it” she mumbled, bashing her pencil on her knee cap. Then, she felt thought she heard his laughter in her head.
Blo? Bloody? Can’t use big girl words? What are you going to do? Kill me? The voice in her head told her. Funnily enough it was a male voice.
You bet yourself, I bloody will. She sent back to the faint voice invading her mind. Was she seriously speaking to herself about killing someone? But the convosation felt so real, like she was speaking to somebody.
A beautiful laugh filled her mind. Followed by a very faint soft…Come get me then baby. The voice faded away and felt like it was going dragging itself out of her window, like it had never just b
The problem was she didn’t know who this monster - that was ‘living’ amongst Sioux Falls - was. But just because he was safe at the moment doesn’t mean it will last long. Levee wanted to put a stop to this not to save herself but her town. And more further her family, or at least what was left of it.
Zayn was her older brother by one year but she still felt as if he needed to be saved for this beast. If he died she would not be able to cope any longer with her life. She and Zayn were alone in the world, because two years ago their mother died in child birth and their little sister died along with her. Their mother, who had always been there for them, is all they had. On the other hand, their father had left them when he found out about the baby coming. No one has heard about where he was but Levee just assumed he was dead in a ditch, which she didn’t care much about because he wouldn’t have contrariwise.
But they still have each other.
Zayn spends most of his time in his room and in the woods, alone. Levee would always tell him it was dangerous but he insisted he needed his time alone and that he would still be close enough for no danger, but she still worried about him. Besides it isn’t like she could stop him anyway he was the older brother.
Levee got up out of the comfort of her gaudy window seat and quivered at the sudden gust of air that wafted at her from outside the window. She jumped and kick the window shut and the panes rattled at the force. She smiled at herself posing like a ninja.
“Is that the best you have got for me elements” she tiptoed towards the window. A floor board creaked behind her and she swiftly turned to and cluster of damp leaves to her face.
