Adrenaline pumped through your veins as you soared between trees, you quickly dared to peer behind you. Your breath caught in your throat the titan that was following you was still close behind.

“Damn it.” You cursed. You couldn’t fight it, you had broken your last blade on this bastard. You knew you made the wrong move causing it to break in half.

You turned your attention to in front of you once more. “Ah!” You’re eyes widened as you dodged a tree. You really should have been paying attention.

You gasped as another titan appeared before you, swinging at you with its gigantic hand. It barely missed you as it broke half of your 3DMG. “Shit!” You watched half of your precious gear scatter on the forest floor.

You retracted what was left of your grappling hooks, letting yourself free fall for a few seconds before latching it onto a nearby tree.

There’s no way I’m making it out of here alive…

The titan took another swing at you this time hitting you head on, causing the rest of your gear to fly off you. You closed your eyes as a scream left your lips as you waited for the impact of hitting the hard ground. Except it never came. You definitely collided with something but it wasn’t the ground. It was firm but at the same time soft… You peered under your lids and gasped, your arms wrapping around your saviors neck.

“Reiner!”

Reiner grinned, “Happy to see me?” He maneuvered between the trees. “Damn, these fucking bastards are going to be hard to lose.” He grit his teeth, “Hold on tight! I’m turning around.”

“W-What?!” Your eyes widened. “Are you crazy?!”

He let out a low chuckle. “And what if I am?” He flipped both of you around, “You’re in no position to argue!”

You let out a low panicked noise as you went between the legs of the second titan.

“My horse is this way!” Reiner propelled the two of you higher so you were closer to the tops of the trees, way out of the titans reach. He stopped for a second on the first sturdy branch he found. “What the hell are you doing all the way out here?”

You fidgeted under his gaze, “I wanted to explore a little…” You sighed, "I wasn't able to go on the last expedition."

He grunted, bopping you on the top of your head lightly with his fist. “Idiot.” He sighed, scooping you up again which caused you to squeak. “Come on… I saw a few houses not too far off. We’ll camp out in one until nightfall then scale the wall.”

You nodded dumbly. You really did feel stupid right now. “Sorry…,” You muttered as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You really didn’t mean to cause him so much trouble.

----

Reiner tied his horse to the fence post of one of the tiny houses. “Any unlocked?”

You nodded, “Yeah!” You stepped inside, striking a match, lighting one of the lamps inside the small home. You looked around sadly, your fingers grazed the kitchen table as you walked passed it. The house looked undisturbed but you knew it hadn’t been inhabited for years.

The small table was set up for a family dinner, stuffed animals were on the floor and nearby couch. You choked back a sob, this poor family… they probably never made it safely inside Wall Maria.

Name,” Reiner was behind you. He clasped a hand on your shoulder. “Come on.” He took the lamp from you as he walked over to a door, he opened it. “Bingo.” He turned to you, “We’ll stay downstairs until it’s dark out.”

You looked at him in confusion. “Why?” You walked over to him regardless.

“If there is a titan in the vicinity, it might notice us through the windows.” He took a step into the dark stairwell then held out his hand to you.

You chewed on your bottom lip and shook your head.

“Huh?”

Your eyes were glued on the cobwebs that covered the door frame. You swallowed thickly, “There might be spiders down there.” Odds were against there being none, no one had been here to clear the webs in years.

He chuckled and grabbed a hold of your hand. “Don’t worry,” he gently tugged you closer. “I’ll protect you.”

You whimpered as you closely followed him into the the basement.

Reiner set the small lamp down on the floor. “Ah-hah.” He grinned, lighting two more lamps that he found. He took a seat against a wall, “Name,” he pat his lap. “Come on.”

“Eh?” You swore your face was now red.

Reiner grabbed a hold of you, pulling you onto his lap. He pulled your back flush against his chest, wrapping his arms securely around your waist. “Better?” He leaned his head forward, breathing into your ear.

You suppressed a shudder and nodded dumbly. You swallowed the lump that formed in the back of your throat.

He let out a low laugh. “Figures. You’d be more scared of a little spider then facing a titan.” He teasingly ran a finger down your neck.

You sucked in your breath, shuddering. “Hmph.” You crossed your arms over your chest, trying to ignore the butterflies in dancing around in your stomach. “I know what I’m getting when I face a titan. I might not know what the outcome will be but… I know what’s there. Spiders… they can sneak up on you… crawl all over you.” Your eyes scanned the dark room as you unconsciously pushed yourself closer to the warm body behind you.

“Hmm,” The blonde boy rests his chin on your shoulder.

"Thank you..." You let your eyes slide closed, enjoying the warmth of his body. "You saved my life." You never dreamed you would be this close to him...

"Don't mention it." One of Reiner's hands brushed your hip causing you to shiver.

"Reiner..." Your breath caught in your throat.

Reiner grinned as he turned your head to capture your lips in a fiery kiss. You stiffened before letting your body relax so you could enjoy the kiss. Reiner bit down on your bottom lip making you gasp. He took advantage of this sliding his tongue in your mouth, easily dominating the kiss.

You pulled away when your lungs burned, craving much needed oxygen. “R-Reiner?” You blinked owlishly at your companion.

Reiner’s large hand cupped your cheek, his thumb stroking the skin there. He sent you a small smile, “Don’t ever do something that stupid again. Alright? You could have been killed.”

You nodded, unable to find your voice again.

“Good.” Reiner pulled you close for another kiss.
