Forever

I strummed the strings of my guitar, my voice filled the room. There must have been 100 pairs of eyes watching me, but I didn’t care. I was having the time of my life. Then came the screaming and the rushing. I was pushed off my chair and my guitar was crushed under foot. I lay on the ground covering my face with my arms. Then I felt someone lifting me to my feet. I turned to see my saviour and found a boy about my age with sparkling emerald eyes, he smiled at me and guided me out of the hotel. I looked back and saw people running in a frenzy and my guitar on the floor in a pile of stings and wood. Why was everyone running about?

I woke to someone shaking me, my eyes fluttered open and met those of the boy in the hotel. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I was sitting in a small ally way with graffiti all along the walls. It looked quite magnificent. The boy pulled me to my feet once again and took me by the hand towards the main footpath and out onto the street.  "who are you?" I asked once we had stopped "My name is Vick, and you are?" "Mouse Winter. Why did you save me?" I asked "because you needed saving" he replied simply. And that was how our friendship started.

For years me and Vick roamed the streets of Paris, causing trouble and busking so that we could eat at night. It might not sound like much, but it was the best life style ever! Until one morning, I woke up to find Vick missing, he wasn’t beside me where he normally sleeps, but his guitar was still here, which is unusual because he never goes anywhere without it, he wasn’t anywhere to be seen. I walked out onto the curve, with Vick's guitar slung over my shoulder, to find a mad rush of people. It must be rush hour. I still couldn’t see Vick. Then came a loud yelp that sounded a lot like Vick's voice. I ran towards it. I pushed through all of the people to see Vick lying on the ground covered in blood. I ran to him, tears rolling down my cheeks. I rested his head in my lap. "Vick. Please don’t leave me, please, I need you" I said between sobs. His hand reached up to wipe away the tears and said "don’t cry Mouse. Your stronger than that" I managed a small smile before asking "what happened?" "I was trying to get some bread for breakfast and I was crossing the road and didn’t see the car" he explained in between deep breaths. I looked around but there were no cars. "someone! Please! Help, call the ambulance, please I need help!" I yelled. A strangely dressed man came up to us and offered his phone to me, I took it with shaking hands "oh. Thank you sir" I gave the man what money I had, but he wouldn’t take it "you need it" he said before I dialled the numbers and explained to the officer what had happened. I hung up. "they will be here in twenty minutes" I said to the man and gave him back his phone. 10 minutes past and there was still no sign of the ambulance, Vick's breaths were getting shallower and further apart. 20 minutes had past and the ambulance still wasn’t here. Vick's hand touched my face as he said "goodbye Mouse and good luck" and then he stopped. Stopped talking. Stopped moving. Stopped breathing. Forever.
