"and shorty wanted me to join her live after mattia was 'being rude' and she was already on with angel-" roshaun said laughing, but he was soon drowned out by my phone notifications.
"hey tap him." someone says, i hear them in the back of my head but i don't acknowledge it. a poke in my arm shocks me, making me jump.
"guys stop!" i say, laughing at alvaro, the boy who caught my attention. the rest of the guys laugh along with me.
we all see a girl appear in front of us.
"hey i'm asp-" the girl says before suddenly stopping herself. my eyes meet with her eyes, then i come back to reality once again.
"oh hey aspen!" mattia greets the girl. aspen is one of our closest girl-friends. she works at waffle house on our school holiday breaks, for extra money for the one or two weeks we get off some months.
"yoo guys." she says with a smile. "what do y'all wanna eat?" aspen continues.
we placed our order, and was waiting for it to be cooked. the smell of eggs and bacon at 7 pm really hit different, especially since i'm with my bestfriends.
my eyes wandered off, and my mind in space. i saw the blur of a girl, the girl we all saw earlier. my eyes refocused, and saw the girl sitting with the guy she was in the car with earlier.
"hey, isn't that her?" i nudged alvaro's arm, catching his attention from the other boys.
"is who her wha-" alvaro stopped his words at the sight of the girl again. a smile appeared on his face, making his cheeks go up into his eyes, and his white teeth show.
"y'all!" he whisper yelled across the table. stopping the other boys' conversation, his eyes move in the direction of the girl.
the other boys, along with myself, look at her again. that's mighty suspicious, don't you think? i mean, that guy she's with is more than likely her boyfriend, and he looks pretty tough.
her head lifts up from her phone, and looks exactly at us. i think each of our heartbeats jumped, because we all started conversation again, like nothing ever happened.
"bro." mateo gulped. "she's hot!"
all of us agreed with mateo, with a smile on our faces. soon our food was brought out. our table had been filled with laughter as we ate. though, i couldn't help but to think about that girl again. i've never seen her before, and i know everybody in town! did she just move here?
