My fingers claw the muddy ground as I try to pull myself out of this pit. The rain beats down on my back and my lungs burn from the toxic air. The walls around me only seem to get taller and more slippery each day. And every whispered word that comes my way only makes me want to stay here more. But I don't dare think thoughts like that here. The second I do, the shadows tighten their grasp around me and start to drag me back down. Black hands that feel like a thousand little needles piercing my skin, circle my body and force me to watch. I see a girl with a dream that was crushed by the world. I see a girl giving up on everyone she loved. I see a girl labeled crazy and washed away into a sea of guilt. I see a girl giving up on herself. I can't look away now as she takes that very last step. They pushed her to the edge. They pushed her away. Now she's falling but she can't feel a thing. They have drained her and left her to die. I know I'll never be that strong.. So for now I'm just going to lay here and try not to breathe.
