High school extras
We live our lives in the shadow of the leads
The leads who throw the parties and have the most friends
The leads who everybody knows rather they're close or not
Nobody cares about the extras
They pass us in the halls
Were nice enough they guess
But do they really know us
No
Because they don't care to know
We don't throw the parties or have the most friends
We will never be on homecoming court
We suffer in silence because we don't know how to be heard
Do we want to be heard
Yes
Do we want more for ourselves
Yes
But we don't allow ourselves to be known
We feel we aren't enough
People say we are
That our feelings are stupid
But do they know what its like to feel stuck in your own body
Trapped by your own mind
No
We are the extras
We are the quiet and the unknown that you pass in the halls
The people who make up the rest of your class
Always seen but never heard
Until now
