LIAM:

“Can't a wife come see her husband?”

“Sure, but you know I have a board meeting in 15 minutes.”

“I thought I'd sit in on this one.  I haven't seen you in over a week, plus this is my company too.”

“Alright then.  Have a seat.”

Shit...that was too close.  I must be more careful. Any cheating makes our prenup invalid, and she could take me for everything I have.

Everyone started filing in, and Miss Porter came back in.  I had her sit on the other side of me to take notes. After the meeting was over, I figured It would be better to get Miranda out of here.

“Miranda, why don't I take you to lunch?”

“What a lovely idea...we haven't spent much time together.”

“Miss Porter….”

“Yes Mr. Parker.”

“I'm taking my wife to lunch. Feel free to go whenever you like.  Afterward, please have the notes transcribed and sent to all the board members.”

“Yes sir.”

I escorted Miranda out of the boardroom.  I glanced back at Miss Porter and could see the disappointment on her face.

ARIANA:

As Mr. Parker left, I tried to hide my disappointment.  I'm sure he noticed anyway. I sighed. I went back to my desk, but wasn't really in the mood to go out for lunch.  I went to the cafeteria and grabbed a sandwich, then went back up to my desk. I worked through lunch transcribing my notes, and emailed them to the board members.  After a couple of hours, Mr. Parker came back from lunch. He walked right past me without saying a word, and went directly to his office. Another hour went by and he called me into his office.

“You wanted to see me sir?”

“I'm surprised you got the notes transcribed so quickly.”

“I worked through lunch.”

“I see….”

“Did you need anything else?”

He was quiet for a minute, then came around the desk.  He closed and locked the door, then came up behind me.

“What's wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“You're still a bad liar.”

He put his hands on my shoulders, and pulled me to his chest.  Without thinking, I settled into his body. His arms went around my waist, and he buried his face in my neck.  It was getting pretty awkward, so I pulled away.

“I should go back to work.”

Before I left the office he called after me.

“Be available tonight.”

“Yes sir.”

I wasn't in the mood, but I did promise I'd be available.  When I got back to my desk, I received a phone call from Norman.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Ariana...it's Norman.”

“Hi Norman.  What's up?”

“Are you free Friday night?  I'd like to take you on a proper date.”

“I would really like that.”

“Great.  Let's say around 8pm?”

“That works for me.  See you then.”

“Bye Ariana.  See you Friday.”
