The sun beat down on Hazel as she walked home. Though school had started just 5 days ago to Hazel it already felt like it had been months. She was growing tired of living in 'ol Ohio. It wasn't exciting to her anymore. It stopped being exciting the day after her 5th birthday. Or should I say the day her father left. You see her father went on many business trips. The trips would last a few days long but those days turned into weeks then into months. Eventually he never came back. All they got from his was an email from his divorce lawyers and nothing since. Hazel's mother has been working hard since to make up for the lack a proper father figure. Though of course Hazel's memory of her father still kept her missing him every once in awhile.
Hazel finally arrived home, unlocking the door and setting her school things on the nearest couch she took no time expressing her feelings.
"Mom! I'm home! And to be honest I'm already over school and it's barely even started. Please tell me we can just chill this weekend."
"Oh I don't know about that.." Her mother appeared with a big grin on her face from the kitchen, holding what appeared to be a letter in hand.
"Mom why are you smiling like that? What's that letter? Is it from dad?!" Hazel walked toward her yearning to know.
"Oh sweetie no, no, nothing like that. Let's just say you won't have to worry about being over school. Or at least the school you just came home too." The mother said as she handed Hazel the letter.
The letter was the color of champagne with gold that covered the rim of the paper like vines. The letter read "Congratulations Hazel you have been one of the four chosen to go to the proud and elite highschool Solis Ortus of London. Please arrive at Atlanta International airport tomorrow at 10:00am. Show the help desk this letter and you will receive your ticket. We look forward to having you."
Hazel smiled widely and looked at her mother who walked toward Hazel then held her in her arms.
"Oh sweetie I'm so happy for you. Now start packing your bags. You don't want to be late tomorrow. The drive to the airport is going to take awhile."
So Hazel packed excited of the new school that awaited her. The school she always wanted to go to.
But little did Hazel know the things that awaited her in the future was far from the dreams that she would dream that night.
