Jeremy's P.O.V

"I think I'll stay late at the office today. Don't wait up, okay?" I said to her in between gulps of orange juice. She had her back to me as she buttered her toast. She was humming softly, but stopped to respond,

"Okay,"

She went back to her humming.

"Okay?" I asked confused.

It wasn't like her to just dismiss conversation. Was she fuming over our little scuffle? I already apologized. Usually things would have blown over by now.

"What else should I say?" she asked genuinely puzzled. She still didn't turn to look at me.

"I don't know. Usually you'll make a scene about me working late again. Kinda surprised that you're this chill,"

I walked to the sink and placed my glass in it. Leaning back against the counter, I let my eyes fall on her.

"Should I be concerned?" I layered my voice with just a little seriousness.

"Should you?" she replied boldly.

A small smile met my lips. Where had this new found confidence come from?

"Don't tell me that you're still upset Grace?" Didn't we make up already?"
I asked moving closer to her, "make-up sex, remember?"

I placed small kisses on her neck, slowly making my way to her jawline.
She didn't even flinch.

"Come on Grace, talk to me," I said while nibbling on her lips. She kept her mouth shut, not even trying to return my kisses. I stopped and looked her in the eyes.

"Must I force you?" I asked. She knew that I would.

"You'll do whatever pleases you Jeremy, as usual,"

"What's that supposed to mean Grace?"

"Must I read and spell for you?" she shot back sharply.

No smile met my lips this time.

"I don't appreciate your attitude babe. I don't want to make you cry," I said quietly.

"When have you ever not made me cry?" she asked tensely.

I stared at her, almost in awe. Part of me felt a pang of guilt. I've seen her tears way more than I would have liked, but it was attitudes like this that would get her in trouble. Deep trouble.

I grabbed her roughly around the waist and pushed up against the wall. She squirmed a bit, but I didn't let go. I loved how defenseless she looked, how much stronger I was.
Strangely, a had a strong urge to ravish her then and there, but one look at the clock told me otherwise. I wouldn't have time to have my desired fill.

I could tell that she was afraid, but there was this determined look in her eyes. I didn't like it.

"I don't know what's gotten into you Grace, but you better cut it out. It isn't funny,"

"I wasn't trying to b-"

"Excuse me?" I interrupted her sharply, "I didn't ask for a response. This isn't an argument. I don't need your approval,"

I set her back down.

"I don't know if you're just trying to piss me off, but I have to get to work,"

I made my way to the table and picked up my briefcase, "see you later. I love you," I said and awaited her response.

"I'm going to get Levi," she said before heading upstairs.

"Grace?" I called. My patience was wearing thin.

"I love you too," she muttered as she climbed the stairs.

She was really asking for it.
