A cold wave flushed over Sana's body as soon as the words left her mouth. Her mother gave her a piercing look that could cut a wall in half and she could not even dare look at her grandfather.
"Not even a greeting first? Is this what being away from home has done to you?" Mustering up the strength to look his way, Sana meets eye to eye with her grandfather. She didn't see much of her grandfather even before she left to study at JYPU. She noticed that the seasoned business man looks frailer with his age now. The happiest recollection Sana has of her grandfather was when her grandmother was still alive and they'd bring her kimonos from their business trips for her to play dress up in. That was more than 15 years ago and her grandfather wasn't the same person anymore after her grandmother's passing.
Sana bows respectfully towards his grandfather. "Hello Ojisan. I'm sorry to come in unannounced but I can't go through with this wedding."
"You're of age Sana and this will be a step in the right direction for your future." Sana's mother voices over the tense atmosphere. Sana could swear that her mother sounded as if she actually gave a damn about her future but she knows better than to believe that.
"I want to make my own future. I don't want to have things pre-destined or arranged. Can't I ask for your trust that I can be successful in my own way? I have a g-" Sana was cut off when a young gentleman raised his hand and started walking towards the shaken Japanese.
"I-if I may, I think it would be best if me and Sana can get to know each other first. A-after all, a wedding is a big event to take in. Would it be okay if I take her on a walk around the premises?"
"You both can go. Let the oldies deal with business and the boring stuff. Show Sana around, it's been a while since she's been back I think. " Yuta bows and gestures for Sana to follow him. "Thank you father. If you need us you can give us a call" Sana follows the red-haired heir out of the room and silence envelops the two while waiting for the elevator.
"H-hi. I'm Yuta. I'm sorry if this isn't the best welcome party for you." Yuta raises his hand for a handshake but Sana just looks at the hand, still withdrawn and taken aback about everything that's happening.
"I understand if you don't feel comfortable about this or me. T-this was all dropped on me as well just a few days ago." Hearing him stutter again made Sana soft. It reminded her of a certain pointguard back in Korea that she misses . The elevator dings and the doors open. Yuta lets Sana go in first and follows shortly.
"I'm not upset with you or anything. I'm just not on board with having to be someone's better half when all I know about them is they stutter when they're nervous." Hearing that, Yuta poises himself more confidently and lets out a slight cough.
"I don't have much experience talking with pretty girls. I come from an all boys college and my mom passed away when I was young. I don't have any siblings as well. " Sana lets out a sigh and starts to feel bad about being rude to the red-haired heir.
"I'm sorry. I don't suppose you're fully on board with this wedding as well are you?"
"Not totally. I understand it's great for business but there's so much of the world I want to see and experience before settling down." The elevator dings open and they alight from the lift. They're greeted by the staff and asked if they will need the car to escort them. The two decide to walk around instead.
"So how's Korea Sana? I've only been there once to oversee a meeting with my dad with some branch heads. I wish I could've gotten around but we had to come back as quick as we landed there." As confident as that sounded, Yuta is still beating himself about not asking a better question.
"It's great. The language barrier can take some time to overcome but the culture and people are incomparable. I can't wait to settle this all and go back." The Japanese starts to think about Dahyun again and as well as all their friends. She left in quite a rush that she was only able to say goodbye to Momo and Dahyun. She wonders what would be the best souvenirs for them to receive when she returns.
