He stuck his hand out and we shook hands. I am in utter awe. He has a messy thrown together look. I like it. ''I decided that I would drop by and say hi.''

''How nice of you Tate, but how did you know we were new?'' Mum said with a raised eyebrow, she never trusts anyone anymore. Not after what dad did.

''Oh I live next door with my ma and sister. Have been for years now.'' Even though he was talking to my mum he kept his gaze on me.

''Well thank you for dropping by Tate but we really have to get back to work. Unpacking and such.''

''No problem I'm always next door if you need me.'' My mum turned to me.

'''Y/N could you walk Tate to the door please?'' I nodded. We were silent the short walk to the door but when I opened it he turned to me.

''I hope to see you soon Y/N.'' And with that he left. I felt weak to my knees the way he had said my name. It was gentle and the way his soft eyes seemed to look into my soul with understanding. Why did I feel such a connection with someone I only met about three minutes ago. I headed back upstairs to my room. My clock read 12:03pm, lunchtime. I wasn't hungry so I decided to do some drawing until dinnertime. My parents wouldn't even notice, they never seemed to.

(Time Skip)

Dinnertime is always the same bullshit. It starts out fine but then mum brings up dad's past of being a drug dealer, and then they fall into a huge argument. And the whole time I just sit there quiet, until dinner is done. I walked up to the upstairs bathroom, closing the door behind me. I looked at my sad face in the mirror and began to cry. I hated how my parents always argue. And I hate how they never care about me. I stopped crying after I felt someone's hand on my shoulder. Shit. I forgot to lock the door. But when I turned around it wasn't mum or dad. It was Tate.

''What are you doing up here?'' I just barely managed to ask.

''I could hear crying from my house and came to see what was going on.'' He paused. ''Are you ok?'' He spoke in a much softer tone than before.

''It's nothing just my stupid parents.'' I didn't want to look him in the eye. I must sound like such a crybaby.

''Oh yeah parents are the worst. You know my ma is a cocksucker, like she actually used to suck of the guy next door.'' I couldn't help but show a small smile.

''Tate why on earth are you telling me this?'' I was trying my hardest to hold in a laugh.

''Because I don't want you to feel alone. I know what it feels like. You know if you ever just need to bullshit about life I'm right next door.''

''Well thank you Tate I might just have to take you up on that offer later.'' He pulled me into a hug.

''Well I better get back ma will probably be looking for me.'' He pulled away from me and walked over to the window.

''Didn't you come through the front door?''

''No I didn't want to make a fuss about anything so I came through the window.'' And with that he climbed out, closing the window as he left.

After I had a shower I went and laid in my bed. As I was drifting off to sleep all I could think of was Tate. The way he spoke so gently to me. How I felt safe when I was around him. He was like my knight in shining armour.
