My heart stopped beating for a minute. A feeling of loss settled over me. I couldn't comprehend what's happening but I knew that it was connected to what the guard just said.

I stared directly to the man's eye and saw glee in his eyes. No new king means no new guards. He can still keep his duty.

I instantly felt anger towards the uniformed man. A feeling I always feel but seldom show. And now, I couldn't control the anger that slipped with my tone.

"Where?"

My heated stare made him frown. The joy in his eyes vanished and replaced with anger as well when he noticed my act of disrespect in front of an audience.

As fast as he could, he masked his emotion. Remembering that his duty comes with being stoic and bringing the news  made his emotion slip the same as I did when I heard what he said.

He regarded me for a moment and said quietly so that only I can hear "East wing. Near the sycamore tree."

I nodded and left hurriedly, leaving him confused by the queen's door.

Ylloh is kind of a friend. We know each other but at the same time, not so much.

I left my thoughts about the guard as I went my way towards the east wing.

It would only take a few turns from where I came from, which was the South wing, the queen's side of the palace.

I ran and ran as fast as I could. My breath came in huffs but my heart struggles to beat. I feel pain and loss.  What is happening to me?

The east wing is filled with servants and guards filling up spaces near the windows. I squished myself through and went right out of the East main door. More people are crowded near the tree.

I went nearer. Feeling more of the pain. I don't know why I keep on walking towards the source. However, a kind of force pulls me more towards the ache.

As I neared the the center of the crowd, I hear the king and his follwers shouting with cheers with their victory.

While I unconsciously searched around for something.

And then I saw his eyes.

Startling gray tones. Like a storm brews inside. His eyes were wide open. Mouth in a frown. Body limp.

I covered my mouth as agony washes through me. The man's body was stuck on the tree with an axe. Blood oozes through most part of his skin and pools on the ground.

Recognition.

That's what I felt.

I don't know who he was but I knew right away who he was supposed to be.

My mate.

I finally found him. The man that fate thinks who'll be the other half that'll complete me. The one that was said to be recognized as being bonded to me with just looking at each others' eyes. The one that is said to be rarely met. The one that made me promise to myself that I would seek my happiness, that I would change history itself and be the one for many generations that'll meet her mate and be able to live and be happy together.

How cruel.

I stared up at the sky. Leaving the eyes which I know would start to haunt me for forever.

The moon showed brightly in the sky. Mocking me, I know. Making me ashamed of myself for my unfulfilled promises. In this moment, I hated her more than I hated anyone. More than I hated my family, more that I hated my life, and more than I hated myself.

She would always see to everyones unhappiness. Shining brightly whenever a were is devasted. She's so hateful. So unforgiving. So cruel.

What would I do with my life now?

My only chance of happiness is gone.

My mate is here. I don't even get to know his name.

Tears keep pouring out of my face. People started noticing my lack of cheerfulness towards the victory of their king.

I finally found him,

and he's dead.
