"I want to go home!" I told my best friend, Ally, as I was sitting down on a bar stool in the kitchen. We were at a party that Ally had gotten invited to by one of her older friends, Jake. I was her 'plus one'. We both roomed together at a our college in South California in a small beach town. The only person I knew here was Ally, and of course Ally knew everyone.
"No, not yet!" Ally told me.
"Pleaseeeee? I'm not having any fun! I'll just walk home by myself." I said, walking away.
Ally grabbed my arm and pulled me with her.
"Wait a little bit, I've got some people I want to introduce you to." We bumped our way through the crowd until we got to a table in the far corner of the room. The table consisted of seven people, three girls and four boys. They all looked like the preppy type, rich and ignorant.
"Hey!" Ally called out to the group.
"Hey, Alls." Said the blonde guy sitting closest to the wall.
"This is Bree, she came with me." Ally said with a smile.
"Hey," said the guy sitting on the outside of the table with brown hair in a quiff. "My names Nathan, you can call me Nate. The blonde one is Jake, it's his party, and the other one's Christopher." he said with a smile. I smiled back. "Do you want something to drink?"
"No thanks, I was just leaving." I responded.
"Oh, do you need a ride? You shouldn't be walking all the way back to your dorm at 1:00." Nate offered.
"I don't know..." I began.
"Please? I'm offering." Nate told me. I looked at Ally and she nodded, winking at me. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Nate.
"That'd be great, thanks." Nate motioned for me to follow him and I said bye to Ally. I followed him around the crowed and out a side door to where his car was parked.
He had a shiny black Range Rover parked in the front of the drive way. He clicked a button on his keys and the car lights turned on the car unlocked. I opened the door and climbed into the passenger's seat. His car was oddly clean for a guy.
"What's your dorm address?" Nate asked. I told him my address as he started the engine.
"So you and Ally are roommates?" He asked.
"Yeah, we have been since we were freshman."
"That's weird, I've known her ever since orientation in the first week, and I've never met you." he said.
"I don't go to many parties."
"Why? Do you not like crowds?" He asked me that and took his eyes off the road to look at me. He had dark brown eyes to match his hair, and a chiseled jaw line and features. Not really my type, but he was cute.
"I don't like crowds, they make me feel uneasy. I don't like the feel of people bumping into me."
"That's understandable." he said as we pulled up to my dorm building. "Want me to walk you in?"
"Sure," I responded. "Are you going to stay or go back to the party?"
"I was thinking I'd stay for a while... If that's okay with you?" He asked, sounding very unsure.
"That'd be great." I said, laughing at his nervousness. We walked in silence up the four flights of stairs and down the hallway to my room. I opened my clutch and pulled out my set of keys to open the door. As soon as we were inside I grabbed an Under Armour tank top and some PINK yoga pants.
"I'll be right back, I have got to change into something comfortable." He nodded and I walked into the bathroom to change. I slipped off the skin-tight dress and put on my comfy clothes. I walked out of the bathroom and saw him laying on my bed on his phone.
"Cool tattoo." he said as he glanced at me.
"Oh, thanks." I said, blushing. "Ally has the same one, it's our friendship tattoo."
Me and Ally had gotten a small etched heart tattoo below our collarbone before our freshman year.
"I've always wanted to get more, I'm just not really sure about it." I said, sitting down on a beanbag and grabbing my phone from my clutch.
"I've never liked the idea of tattoos being there forever." Nate said, putting down his phone.
"I love it. It's like a piece of jewelry you can keep with you to your grave and no one will ever try to steal it from you." I replied. "Anyway, do you want to watch a movie?"
"Sure, what do you have?"
"We have Netflix, so kinda anything." I said.
"What do you want to watch?" He asked me.
"The Breakfast Club because why not."
"I've never seen it." I gasped very over dramatically.
"Then we must watch it."
