Beep"Ugh"
Beep
"Why now..?"
BEEP
Emily slammed her hand down onto the alarm clock, quickly shutting it off. She put her hands over her face not wanting to wake up.
Beep
The sound started again but this time it had a higher pitch.
Beep
Emily looked to her right to see her younger sister, Lily, who had been making the sound. Emily smiled softly at the 5 year old girl. Lily turned and ran away giggling. Emily sat up in her bed. Eventually, she got to the bathroom where she combed her long blonde hair and put it into a ponytail.
Emily made her way downstairs after taking a shower and brushing her teeth. Her mom was over the stove cooking what smelled like Bacon while her younger sisters, who are identical twins, sat at the table talking about their favorite toys. Emily sat at the table next to her sisters before looking towards her mom.
"Is dad at work again?" Emily asked her mother who then sighed and turned to face her.
"Business trip..." Emily's mother, Amelia, said with a bit of hurt in her voice. She knew here husband was cheating on her but still won't leave him 'For the twins'.
Emily nodded, knowing what her mother meant. Amelia turned back to the stove to tend to the bacon while Emily looked at her sisters who were now staring at her.
"Yes, Lily and Rose?" The twins were named after their mothers favorite flowers which were being grown in the family's large backyard.
"Why is daddy always on a trip?" Rose asked. Rose unlike her sister had freckles on her cheeks like her mother. Which is the only visible difference between the two girls.
"And why doesn't he ever take us?" Lily asked staring intently at her older sister hoping for an answer.
"Daddy has to go on a lot of scary trips with monsters... so that you girls can get all of the toys you have!" Emily said, faking a smile. She knew her mother was the only person buying the girl's toys. Their father, David, hadn't done much for Emily and her mother after the twins were born.
"Breakfast is ready~!" Amelia said in a sing-song voice walking over to the table setting down plates in front of everyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Emily had just gotten dropped off at school by her mom when she met up with her friends.
"Hey babe!" Her best friend Jessica called to her. She was around three other people. Justin, One of Jessica's classmates from Math. Jessie, Jessica's younger brother. And Becca, the most cherished person in the entire school because of how nice she is.
Emily ran over to the group, giving Jessica and Becca a hug.
"Aw you guys decided to wait for me today? How sweet." Emily said. She received an eye roll from Jessica and a small laugh from the others.
"Let's go." Jessica said leading the group into the school.
They talked until it was time for class. None of them had the same homeroom class. Emily had Algebra 1 which she was happy for because she got the class over with early in her day. Emily walked into the classroom her eyes drifted to the figure near the window. Ashley. The most beautiful girl in the school. She had her long, soft, brown hair straightened it glowed from the morning sun as it fell over one side of her face. Ashley looked up slowly moving her hair out of the way so she could continue to write something. Emily was almost caught staring but quickly walked to her seat right behind Ashley. Now Emily would have already asked Ashley out but...
"Hey Barbie." Ashley said to Emily while turning in her seat.
The two girls were enemies.
Emily rolled her eyes at the childish remark. Ashley just watched her, it was obvious to everyone not entranced by Ashley's stunning appearance that she too, was in love with her enemy. Ashley had always wanted to tell Emily how she felt but was afraid to be rejected. Little did she know Emily was having the same problem.
The girls just stared into each other's eyes for a while, both searching for a hint that the other liked them.
"Okay class." The teacher announced as he walked into the room. He had interrupted the "moment" the girls shared. Emily had already missed staring into her enemy's beautiful chocolatey brown eyes.
"Today as I said last week you will pair up with two different people, that I will choose, and make me a poster about why Algebra is an important class. No matter what your actual opinion is." He turned to the board and began to write down names of the students in groups.
Everyone watched the board hoping to be with their friends.
"Susan, Roy, and Ally..." Emily quietly read out the names of people on the board "Jeffrey, Jackson K., and Frank. Emily, Sylvia, and Ashley..." Emily felt her heart jump out of her chest. She was afraid that Ashley would make fun of her if she did something wrong. Which is exactly what people who dispise each other do but she hadn't thought of it like that.
Ashley slowly turned around to face Emily. Ashley had a sweet smile on her face that could light up the room.
"Well, Sylvia isn't here today so I guess we have to start on our own..?" Ashley asked with a small hint of nervousness.
Ashley had never been so nervous when talking to Emily, she wondered what was different now.
Emily hummed a quick "Mhm" before she was given a poster board by her teacher.
