Even after eating the good chicken soup Mom made for her and Giovanni, he still hasn't returned.
It's unsettling, but he's probably just taking his time. While that may be the case, this doesn't stop Molly from worrying though.
Staring at the ceiling above her, she sits in Giovanni's bed, leaning against the wall.
The room is dark, since she'd actually planned on sleeping, but just couldn't.There is this lingering image of flames bursting through her brain like a strong wave.
Molly remembers her mother.
How she'd thought she could never be alone.
Her mom would always protect her, be right there by her side. Now it's the same, and still so different.
Molly believes deep inside her, she could be a living misfortune waiting to happen.
No luck ever comes with her. She's been alone ever since that night, so damn alone...
Inside at least. Now Molly feels the room around her close in, the shadows grow longer, the moon shining through the window gets darker.
She could hear everything, even through her epithet, which is supposed to mute everything.
Soulcrushingly loud noises are still everywhere, pounding in her ears. The yelling of crows outside, the rustling of mouses through the hay of the cage, motors of cars on the streets, her own breath.
Her heart pumping in her chest starts to burst, as cold sweat starts to build up on her shaking body.Molly pulls her blanket close, staring fearfully into the room, almost expecting something to crash through the shadows to let her dreams fall apart.
Freezing blood rushes through her, as she sees flickering lights all over the floor.
It gets suspiciously warm, and still so cold."No... no, no, no. Please no!" Molly cries out, pulling the blanket over her face, her head pressed firmly against the wall, as if wanting to break through it.
"Mom, dad! I'm scared..." She sputters through hitching breaths, clutching her hands around her legs.
She hears screams, smells the fire and feels the sensation of blood in her fists.Trying so desperately to get a hold of reality, she moves down to curl up on the bed, tears streaming down her face.
"Don't... take this away from me again..." She whispers, her voice breaking under the weight of her own hallucinations haunting her.Until she feels a warm hand carefully removing the blanket over her head.
"...Molly. What's wrong?" Hearing her name being said, she gets thrown back to reality, glancing up at Giovanni, who's face is full of worry and brotherly love."I... It's nothing. I'm fine, really." Molly lies, breath still shaking.
She turns her head to not have to look at her friend, who doesn't seem to let go this easily:"You were crying, sis. Nobody makes my minions cry, remember? I'm here for you."Now she hears something roar in the distance, something familiar...
Thunder.
Shocked and in fear, she rushes to quickly reach out to Giovanni, new tears forming in her tired eyes, as she holds onto her brother like a teddy bear.He pulls her close and onto her lap for comfort.
"It's alright, let it out. You can tell me anything... I'll always be here, promise." The villain speaks warmly. He isn't really surprised to see her struggle like that, but witnessing it first hand... it's terrifying how much a young, small child can feel such overwhelming pain.
So much, he could sense her shaking in his grip.It breaks his heart into pieces to see Molly like this.. crying and reaching out for just the smallest bit of warmth she could get.
And then trying to pretend she doesn't need it."Giovanni... please don't leave.." He could hear her breathe.
How... long has it been like this?
How much has she had to suffer these past two years?
He doesn't know, but it's definitely too much."... I won't." Giovanni replies with a soft voice.
Trying his best to be like his mom, whenever he's felt depressed in the past.
It would be exactly like this, with the harsh difference, that Molly's been through much worse.
Knowing that, is more than he could bare.But.. as much as he wishes he would be enough, he's simply not.
He isn't qualified for such deep things.
Doesn't know how to handle them correctly.Though he's smart enough to take matters a bit further.
She needs something more than that, to stop her nightmares.
Who knows how long this has been going on for..."Hey, is it better now?" Giovanni questions the child gripping onto him.
She doesn't answer, but he feels her heartbeat calming down a little and her breaths getting more even. That's good...
Taking a look outside the window, he sighs:"You know... I think I may not be able to help you in what you're going though right now. And I can't imagine how much pain you must be feeling... so please take my advice and try something else. Remember dr. Yo-yo? I bet we can call him tomorrow and get you to him. As much as I dislike the idea, I think he might just be able to help..."
Molly giggles through the dried tears at the nickname Giovanni has given Sylvie. Then she clears her throat, moving to rest her head on her brother's shoulder:"...Yeah, I'd like that."
