After we had gotten out of the water, and put our clothes back on, Billie led me away from the coastline, and back towards the car.
It was completely dark now, and the only thing giving us light, was the moon. Somehow Billie new exactly where he was taking me, but I couldn't see a thing. He held tightly onto my hand until we got back to the car.

"Wait here," he said, letting go of my hand as he opened the car door, and searched for something inside.

I took this moment to look at the stars. They were beautiful when they weren't being hidden by the city lights. Billie came back shortly with a flashlight, and something else, that he tucked under his arm.
We took off into the night once again, only this time, we didn't go back to the beach. He lead me up a small hill overlooking the coastline, and sat down in the grass. I sat cross-legged  next to Billie, and looked at him. He was beautiful. His black, fluffy hair that was still kinda wet from the ocean, fell in front of his face, just above his eyes. Dark green eyes, ( that I couldn't get enough of) were... staring right back at me. I quickly adverted my eyes, and looked down.
"Why do you always do that?" He asked carefully.

"Do what?" I asked, looking at him again, then running my fingers through my hair.

"You always look at me, then stop and look at the ground and avoid eye contact," he chuckled sweetly.

"I'm sorry, I just don't want to weird you out I guess..." I replied.

"Alena, you've got me. I don't think you could weird me out now, yknow? I mean, fuck what other people think. Be yourself, yknow?" I laughed, and he pulled the thing that he carried up here from under his shoulder, and I noticed it was a blanket. He spread it out in the grass  and laid down.
"Well, aren't you going to join me?" Billie asked.
I realized I was just sitting there kind of awkwardly, so I moved and laid next to him, not touching him.

"Not like that. C'mere." He pulled me close to him and I rested my head on his chest. I could hear his heartbeat. We laid there for a few minutes, just watching the stars, when he asked "Does this make us a couple?"
I pondered the thought. I liked Billie a lot. Like a lot... but we had just met. And was he really wanting to be a thing? Sure, we had kissed, but, I thought guys thought a kiss was just a kiss... but I guess Billie isn't one of those guys.

"Yeah, I mean, what do you think?" I asked quietly,

"You don't feel like it's too fast do you? I mean, you just broke up with your boyfriend, yknow?" Billie's eyes had a strange twinkle in them - confusion.

And then my world, and reality, came crashing down. Ben, the person I had tried to push out of my mind by saying he was just an ex-boyfriend, was not going away easily. Billie -
and myself - had still believed the lie. I had to tell him now.

"BILLIE?! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?" I heard Mike yell. "WE'RE GONNA TAKE THE CAR AND LEAVE YOUUUU!" Tre echoed.

Billie and I folded the blanket and headed down the hill to Mike and Tre.

Tre elbowed Mike and said, "I bet you ten bucks they fucked!" "You're on!" Mike agreed, and they both got into the car. I rolled my eyes and kissed Billie on the cheek, confirming that I wasn't freaking out but his proposal to go steady.
As we drove home, I told myself I was going to tell Billie as soon as we got home, but of course, that never really happens, does it?
