Zachary sighed as he fidgeted with his old shirt, it was from the 18th Century, hence no longer in style. It used to be an army shirt, but now with the 21st century rolling around, all armies wore exactly the same.
Besides, his shirt was stained in blood - his blood- he remembered. It was a sickening and painful thought, he hated thinking of the pain that throbbed through his entire body, the fangs that stuck into his neck, ripping open his tender arteries.
He had almost been sucked entirely of all his blood, but timely intervention from his vampire 'friend', Golda Talon stopped his death. While he wasn't a vampire, he didn't have to drink blood or anything, he was still immortal. A stake to the heart couldn't kill him, and beheading him, he didn't know. Of course he hadn't tried.
Shaking his head lightly, and breaking out of the chain of thought, he hesitantly walked over to the mirror. Staring back at his reflection, Zachary hesitantly moved some of the black hair from his eyes. It wasn't long considering the era, but currently, he happened to have it longer than it was the night of his almost death. The first and last time he'd ever come close to it.
The black-haired male sighed, as he slowly washed himself. Normally he'd do it quicker, but this morning he had an uncomfortable, pulsating feeling in his stomach. He never felt anything like it before, but he just shook it off as nothing.
Once finally finishing his task, Zach stood up and shook lightly, grunting he eventually gained his footing, he made his way downstairs, to get his phone and eat some breakfast. He was sure Golda wanted something today.
Reaching the kitchen, he reached his tanned hand to the phone and picked it up. As expected, he received a message from Vampire Girl - Golda's the only female vampire I know - He reminded himself, pulling the phone out of its charger carefully and making some breakfast, pancakes with raspberries and strawberries and a cup of apple juice. Simple, he knew, but he didn't have time for anything else.
Zachary proceeded to make his way to the park, where he saw Golda, who ironically had black hair. He rolled his eyes, walking over to her and grunting as he noticed the ache in his back. "Hey." He spoke, forcing a smile onto his lips. He didn't want Golda to worry about him.
From what he guessed, she was didn't like him being in pain, like he was almost 300 years ago. But his thoughts were broken by Golda finally speaking, "Good morning, Zach."
He smiled again, glad he didn't notice his grunt, "So, why did you want me to come to the park?" He asked - she hates it here, even if I like myself. she's only come here if she's wanting to tell me something important-
"So, you know how I've been going to medical school to update my licence? Well, I'm finally interning, and was wondering if you want to go out for a drink or two."
Zachary hummed lightly in thought before nodding his head, "Yeah, of course. You know I have no reason to decline. I haven't declined for 40 years!" He purred, amused.
Golda nodded her head, "I know! I know!" She smiled lightly as she spoke, "Well let's go to my house, I have some cocktails over there!" She grabbed Zach's hand and proceeded to drag him to her house. It was a Victorian house, as Golda loved the architecture of the era, it cost a lot, but she had bought.
They soon got inside, after a short hesitance of not knowing which key was for the door. Zachary sat down on the couch, ignoring the pain in his back and the Heartbeat-like sensation in his tummy. It'd be fine, it's not like he could die after all.
Golda brought in some old bottles of wine, he knew the brands well, as during his time in the army, he drunk them one or two times. A hesitant smile appeared on his face, as he Poured a glass for himself, swallowing the bitter liquid - a good taste of the past- he thought with a smile.
After drinking an entire bottle by himself, he stood up to go to the toilet. A spasm of pain shot through his stomach, and he felt dizzy. Golda stared at him in worry, "Zach... You look pale..." He attempted to answer, realising he could barely breathe, and suddenly, everthing went dark.

When Zachary came to, he woke up in an unfamiliar bed, a bright light shining on his eyes. He groaned in pain, looking to his side when he saw Golda sitting by his side.
Golda looked up, evidently noticing his consciousness. "Zach, you're awake!" She commented, a forced smile clearly on her lips, "I was so worried when I saw you collapse like that!"
"But I can't die... You know that, right?" His voice was weak, reminding him of when his stomach was practically cut open, it took him ages to be able to eat without fear again.
"I know... But, you're human in almost every other regard. If you lost an arm, it'd be gone forever, while if I lost one, it'd grow back. I was worried that something could have happened to your brain, and you wouldn't be the same." She explained
"Oh... Have the doctors identified what was wrong with me?" He asked.
Golda nodded in response, "Abdominal Aortic Aneurism, it was a massive one and it had burst. They had to perform surgery on you."
"Will I be able to home soon?" He knew he shouldn't be worried about it, but he didn't want to take up a bed when he'd most likely already recovered.
"Yeah... The doctors told me to look after you for a few days as you'd be weak from your surgery." She sighed
Zach gripped his wrist, but nodded in reply. He was glad, in one regard that Golda actually cared for him. But he'd hope he'd at least be able to change on his own, without Golda watching.
