I stared at the pregnancy test in my hands, tears streaming down my face, this couldn't be happening. it was like those two little life-changing lines were mocking me. "Inko are you-" I flung the test behind me but it was too late."Inko what was that?" my mother asked, her voice shaking with every word. I turned my head away and let the tears drip down my face. I felt mother's hand on my arm as she gently took the test out of my hand. she gasped and pulled me into a hug. "It's ok baby. I'm here," she whispered in my ear, holding my sobbing form. "What am I gonna do? I just graduated!" I yelled looking into her eyes. "what do you think you should do?" my mom asked, tilting her head slightly. "I need a job, and I need out of this city. the father is a new hero. I can't force this on him, plus I don't want my baby in danger." I muttered, pulling away from my mom's hug. "Your this child's mother, and I've always believed that a mother knows best. what you do next is completely up to you." she pats my head and left the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror and stared down at my flat stomach, imagining a bump. tears streamed down my face as I imagined the life I would build with my child. soft blond hair, vivid green eyes, a smile like the sun. I could see us playing in the living room, toys littered about, and Toshinori. Toshinori holding the baby over his head, running through the house, squeals following him where he went. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts.
when I sat at the dining table, everyone went silent. "I need to tell you all something, and before you put in your two sense, I have already made up my mind. I'm pregnant, and I'm keeping the baby, before you ask, no the father is not in the picture. he's a hero, I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on him while he's trying to get his career started." I stared down at my plate, refusing to return my father's harsh stare. "I've decided I will move out and find a place to live in Kyoto. I'll start looking for housing tonight, and ill return after my baby gets there quirk. I-" my father slammed his fists on the table rage blowing off him. "you won't wait to move out. you'll move out tonight. I won't have a slut like you living in my house! how could you be so fucking stupid?" I winced at his harsh words. "I'm sorry father. I'll pack a bag and leave." I stood from the table and walked into my room, closing the door softly behind me. "It"s ok baby. we'll find a nice place to live soon enough." I whispered as I rubbed my hand over my stomach. I walked over to my closet and started tearing out my clothes. dresses lay scattered among pants and casual clothes. I pulled my suitcase out from under my bed and gently packed my clothes away. I walked down the stairs, suitcase slamming against each step. "I'll be going now," I said, staring into my father's eyes. he grunted as I walked to the doorway, pulling on my shoes and walking out into the rain. "Inko wait!" I turned to see my mother chasing after me, her green curls flattened by the rain. "here." she said as she handed me a check. "this should be enough for an apartment and furniture for the baby." I smiled as I took the check from her, my eyes widening from the price. "Thank you, mama. I'll call you when the baby is born." I smiled at her and turned away, walking to my friend Mitsuki's house.
I banged my fist against the door, waiting for my best friend to open up. "Who the fu- oh hey Inko what's up?" she asked, laying her hand on her baby bump. "I told my parents. My dad threw me out," I muttered looking away from her harsh glare. "Shit come on in," she said ushering me in. I stepped into the house and waved at Masaru, a college student Mitsuki had hooked up with at a frat party. "Hi." I waved at him with a small grin. he smiled and waved back, returning to his textbook, Mitsuki reclaiming her spot on his lap. I chuckled and brought my bag over to the guest room where I had stayed pretty frequently, my dad never wanted me home. I sighed and put all my clothes in the closet, my laptop on the small desk in the corner. I opened the laptop and started searching for apartments in Kyoto. I looked up at the knock on my open door to see Mitsuki watching me, a small plate of pizza in hand. "I brought you some pizza," she said as she walked into the room, plopping onto my bed and wrapped herself in my fluffy blanket, a gift from her when she found out I was pregnant. "Where are you thinking of moving?" she asked peeking around my shoulder. "I was thinking Kyoto," I muttered clicking on a small house in the middle of the city, leaving tons of jobs within walking distance. "Hows this house look?" I asked turning to look at the ash-blond behind me. she smiled "Its perfect." I grinned and clicked the application button.
