The year is 2100. It's January 1st. Life has changed, or so I've been told. My elders always told me that their generation had an external connection to technology, phones, tablets, even some TVs, video games etc. These days most people have surgeries to replace body parts making them faster, stronger, smarter. People get microchips implanted to mentally connect into the internet. Some people use this tech to reap chaos and achieve personal dubious goals. Hacking is the number 1 crime in America. And with everything turning tech savvy it's harder for us non cyborgs to compete in business and even in regular day life.
My city's biggest problem is a crime lord who runs by the name of Lexon. He and his network steal, kill, create drugs and tech, anything dishonest to make a dollar.
I get by working in the shop that my parents left me. I graduated high school and my father gifted me his auto mechanic shop and he and my mother left to travel but they were killed by a drunk driver in a car accident before they left the city.
So now a couple years later here I am, recovering from a New Years celebration with my few friends.
I was walking home around 4am with intentions of going to sleep. My small house (that lawyers agreed I should own) was just a couple blocks away from my buddy's. Even the crime lord would be celebrating New Years tonight so I wasn't really worried about getting into trouble.Besides, downtown is where you'll find trouble. My house is on the outskirts.
I wore khaki pants, Brown hiking boots, a long sleeve and two hoodies. The wind still cut through it all, chilling me to my bone. It was quiet out except for the faintly whistling wind. The snow was only ankle deep. I took out my headphones and placed them properly in my ear and played music off my iPod Z Box. It took 20 minutes to get home. By then I was freezing. I burst through the front door and flip on the light, and immediately stripped off my top layers and threw them across the living room near my door.
"Whoof! Whoof!"
"Hey pretty lady how're you doing?" I say smiling at my pit bull, Daisy. I squat down to her height, her tail wagging maniacally as I pet her head and her chest. I plant a quick kiss on on her head and stand up and head to towards the kitchen. Daisy follows me happily still wagging her tail. "Did you miss me baby?" I say to her as I walk over to my fridge. I open it up and see what I still have for food. ''Mmmmm" I thought. "Eggs, ham, onions, some pepperoni I can make a scrambled egg feast!" I say to nobody in particular. I grab all my ingredients and place them on the counter.
I start prepping the food, and heating h pan. I take out my iPod and aim it at the speaker in the corner on the ceiling and flick my iPod. Instantly they connect. I start playing some old music. Not just old, old old. I really liked music from the early 2000s. My two favorites are what they called hip hop and trap music.
I return to cutting up my ingredients. I flick Daisy a chunk of this and that every so often. Small chunks of new stuff to her but big chunks of ham are tossed to the floor.
After about 10 minutes my food is all choppy and laid out on the cutting board. Cheese, onion, ham, pepperoni, and my eggs in another bowl. The butter now melted in the pan. Now for my favorite part.
I take the eggs and pour them into the frying pan making a long and loud "FFFSSSHHHHH" sound as the eggs start cooking on contact. I quickly throw in my ingredients and use s spatula to stir it around and mix it up.
This is my life, it's good. I have some close friends, my own place, a job, a dog, I'm living life good. There's bout one more thing that would make a night like tonight perfect. My long running, 4 year crush on a girl I graduated with named Sarah.
