Between A Rock And A Hard Place

I wandered through the dark and cold streets of Gotham with my hood up blaring the fancy Beats my mom picked up after her last guilt trip to Arkham. I blared Falling In Reverse so loud as if to dare someone to try something, anything. Dad came home from Arkham with mom....

The fights were the stuff of nightmares and the makeup sex was even louder.

So many things that I would like to understand
If we are born to die and we all die to live
Then what's the point of living life if it just contradicts?

I smirked as I felt the rumble of a distinctive Harley come to a stop. I turned and giggled out the phrase in my ears expecting to see Mini Frost sent to drag me home,

I've lost my goddamn mind
It happens all the time

I took a step back yanking my headphones off with a glare.

"I ain't done nothin I'm just out for a walk and good music Nightwing!"

The masked vigilante moved at me with caution. I may not have my dad's record but everyone in Gotham knows my reputation none the less.

"Now come on Lucy, for one you know Radke is not good music. For two you're carrying a bat through the Narrows in the middle of the night. Where are they?"

I laughed at the masked ass and shrugged,

"You think I'd tell ya after insulting my fave band? Ha! Fuck off DickWing!"

I moved with precision into the alley behind me. The Batclan aren't the only ones comfortable in the darkness. The jerk in front of me knows it too. Suddenly Nightwing looks unsure.

"Setting me up?"

His voice was cocky and playful.

"Never, I know the story of what happens to Robins new and old at my house."

Nightwing squinted at my second sincere sounding statement.

I heard of the resurrected Robin now Red Hood and how Batsy almost killed my dad. Robin number three was currently in Arkham still convinced he was Joker Jr. No way am I taking another one to Dad's waiting hands.

Suddenly a sexy voice came behind me from the shadows,

"I'd almost believe you were sincere. However I've met your daddy and his crowbar."

I froze, Red Hood?

Fuck

I turned with wide eyes and backed up.

"Whoa no way."

Nightwing visibly cringed behind me as he spoke in a soothing condescending voice.

"Hood, stay away from her. She's just a kid, she was a baby when Joker killed you."

The laughter that came from under the red hood as he came into the light was unsettling.

Must be how dad makes his victims feel I thought bitterly.

Nightwing grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him,

"Come on you're going to Arkham."

I snapped back into the reality of my situation,

"Sorry Bat-reject but I'm not going to Arkham!"

Quick as I could I pulled out my pair of glocks and grinned shooting wildly as I spun to face him.

Once Nightwing dove for cover I turned and sucked in a deep breath running straight for Red Hood dropping at the last minute to slide between his legs.

I took off running through the alley as fast as Auntie Ivy's serum would take me. I took a sharp left into muscles and leather.

Fuck

Red hood chuckled as he touched the barrel of his own glock to my forehead.

"Let's go kiddo."

I glared up at him and replied defeatedly as I handed him my guns,

"I'm not a kid, I'm 19."

Hood laughed again,

"Fine little jester, hurry the fuck up."

We moved quickly into a red mustang and as the engine roared to life I have a snort of laughter,

I am aware that I am an asshole
I really don't care about all of that though
I'm living my life the way that I want to
And you can't deny
That honestly I'm just like you

At least the lunatic kidnapping me had good taste in music.
