"I don't know what you're talking about!", I resisted. The Baron and I discussed for about an hour now, whether I had powers or not. The Baron tried his hardest not to scream or hit me, but I brought his patience to an end, a good ability I perfected in high school. "So you're telling me, that Mallard's little experiment on you were useless?", his voice was pressed and he didn't look at me. Instead, he massaged his temples with one of his hands.

"Experiment?", my head was spinning. That must have been happened in that night in japan. But why couldn't I remember any of it? Though it explains the great pain I felt the morning after that night and also the weird things happening to me. "What did he do to me?"

"Nothing that matters. If you don't have powers, it was all for nothing. We invested a precious relict in an important experiment and it failed." He groaned in anger, leaning back against the couch and putting his hands on his face. He sweeped his hands down over his face and laid them back on his lap. "Are you sure there is nothing changed in you?" his voice was now shaking and I was certain he would throw something at me any time soon.

"Well" I said "I have weird pain every month." I was afraid to tell him about the darkness. I didn't want to be part of this. I liked the Baron more than Mallard, even before I knew about the experiment, because I thought he would be more reasonable. But he was even more evil than Mallard and whatever was about to happen, I wanted to escape. My idea was to let them think I had no powers and they would let me go. I hoped Mallard wouldn't tell him that I mentionned the darkness on my way to this horrible place.

"I did not let Mallard bring you here to talk about your menstruation, stupid woman!", he yelled at me. He was not able to control his anger anymore. I pressed myself against the back of the couch, as he stood up and came closer to me. His muscled shoulder blocked the light and shadow fell on me, leaving me in darkness. I couldn't help but consume the shadow laying on me. The Baron was about to hit me, when he noticed that the shadow disappeared in my stomach.

"So you do have powers.", he laughed and kneeled before me. "How are you doing that?" He watched the shadows in the room move towards me. "We thought you must have something to do with the moon. But this is far more interesting."

The shadows were far too cold for me to handle, but I couldn't stop the shadows from coming. My heart pounded heavily against my chest and I was getting so cold, I began sweating. The more shadows came, the more pain crawled up to my heart. With shaking hands I touched my chest and began gasping for breath. If that creep could just leave me alone. I suspected it was the fear, that pulled the shadows to me.

"What's wrong, darling?", the Baron grinned, putting his hand on my left knee "Can't you feel the power behind it? Isn't it exciting?" He stood up again and called for the security guard to come in
"Yes Strucker?“ the large security guard muffled.

"Would you mind bringing Mallard and my special guest to us?" The large muscular man nodded and closed the door again. After a few minutes the small Mallard entered, followed by a bigger, brown haired man with broad shoulders. He wore a black leather uniform and his face was covered with a black mask and black goggles. My eyes widened a little bit, when I saw his shiny silver metal arm. Mallard saw me gasping for breath and rushed towards me.

"What have you done?! What's wrong with her?", he cried, touching my face. A growl came out of my mouth, trying to warn him not to touch me again. Under large efforts I could move to the side. Strucker grabbed Mallard's neck and pulled him back.

"It's not me you idiot! Can't you see the shadows?", Strucker yelled and nodded in my direction. The three men watched the shadows crawling to me. I knew I had to calm down, otherwise the shadows would keep coming, but I couldn't escape the fear in their presence. My breath was short and I was almost passing out from the coldness, when the masked man stepped forwards.
