quiet

Something's off.

You see, usually Draco Malfoy would never miss an opportunity to torment me and my friends. But lately...lately he's been awfully quiet. Unbearably quiet.

"Harry!" A soft voice called out to me, but I didn't bother giving it much attention.

"Harry!" This time there was a thump on the table. It was Hermione, of course. Brightest witch of her age—although she can be a little scary sometimes. At least, that's what Ron says. "Absolutely mental, that one." He'd always point out everytime Hermione wasn't listening or around to hear. I finally snapped out of my thoughts and turned my attention towards the girl who now seemed to be losing her patience.

"Okay, there's something up with you. Spill it out." She said, with the same determination she has with anything she can't completely understand.

"Have you..." I started, trying to muster up  what I wanted to say. "have you noticed anything weird about Draco lately?" I was scanning the hall to find him, but he was no where to be seen.

"Hm...'matter of fact I have. He's been missing classes lately. Whatever it is, it's must be bothering him." She replied. I hummed for a moment, taking in what she said until I saw her face change into a look of pure disgust. I quickly gazed over in her direction.

"Mm yum...who makes the food here again?" Ron asked with a mouth full of baked potatoes. Have to admit, they were pretty good. They had cheese, sour cream and green onions lightly sprinkled on top.

"Ugh God, you're absolutely repulsive." Hermione uttered as she crossed her arms.

I grinned at the two of them bickering. "You haven't changed one bit since last year, Ron." We all started laughing.

"Actually on second thought, I'm not so hungry." Ron dropped his fork and stared at the entrance of the hall. Me and Hermione turned over to have a look.

It was Malfoy. He was pacing the hall, sweating and tugging at his collar. God he looked awful. He continued walking until his eyes met mine. He looked scared, but what could Draco Malfoy possibly be scared of? The entire hall was loud and chaotic as usual. Nobody except me, Ron and Hermione were glaring at the boy standing before us. Finally, Draco turned back and hurriedly walked out the door.

I stood up from my seat and was about to go after him until Hermione pulled my arm. "Where exactly are you going? She asked. "I need to know what he's up to." I clenched my jaw—I'm not letting him get away with whatever it is he's planning. She loosened her grip and nodded her head. Her eyes said it all. Be careful, Harry.
