8 || Anxious

Immediately, the whole room falls silent.

The other... Alice?

Who is this boy?

With my question in my head unanswered, Seungmin just stares at me. His eyes bore into mine as if he was searching for something. I gulp, awkwardly holding eye contact as I find myself shifting under his gaze.

Seungmin...

The name sounds familiar, but no clear memories come to mind.

The quiet atmosphere continues to loom, the tension thick as I pray for someone to say something, anything.

Thankfully, Chan was the first to speak up, his scepter raising a bit as he stands. The bottom of it then proceeds to hit the ground with a 'clink', gaining everyone's attention in the room.

We all look at him, the man clearing his throat before he shoots a rather dubious look at Seungmin dead in the eye. "I think you must be mistaken, young man. In this world, there's no such thing as double roles."

A snarky scoff escapes his lips. "Well, that's your problem. It's not like I want to be here."

The king's face darkens. "May I ask how you came here in the first place then?" His tone was deep, almost demanding.

But despite the intimidation act, the boy pays no attention as he proceeds to quickly snap back more sharp words. "None of your business." He shakes off the guards holding him, grabbing something from his side of his clothes. "I don't have anything to do with you. I want out. Now."

From the side, I find myself glancing as the tiny silver of a switchblade came into my eyes. There weren't many people in the room, the guards still trying to get up from the boy's sudden resistance.

But before I knew what was happening, from the blink of the eye to another- as the guards stand up to grab Seungmin again, the slight silver from behind his back takes movement. In one swift spin, the three people fall to the ground, all of their hands clutching tightly to their waist in pain.

"Let. Me. Out. Now." The boy breathes out, heavy panting coming from him as he cautiously steps back.

"Kim Seungmin!" Chan raises his voice. "Please control your actions, or I have to amend to further-"

"I don't care!" He huffs, head lowering down as his breathing shallows, light pants forming into an uneven rhythm. "I may have been violent, but I'm serious. I need. To go outside."

Everyone in the room falls silent again, staring at Seungmin.

I blink a few times at the boy, until it dawns on me.

He's anxious.

But before I could say anything, Chan's voice comes forth again.

"Jisung."

Immediately, I see a figure flash before my eyes, arms locking around the boy's back as then I see a long blade in its case, holding at the front of Seungmin's neck.

"I'm warning you, boy." The blue hair speaks, directly to Seungmin and barely loud enough for me to hear. "Don't try any funny business with the king, or the clasp around this sword with slide right off along with your throat."

My eyes widen. No. He's anxious, let him go.

Jisung, let him go.

I see the panic forming in the brown hair boys eyes, breaths now erratic.

Let him go.

"Now, Seungmin." Chan says. "I just want you to answer some questions for me, that's all." Stepping away from his throne, he breaks his focus on the boy as he strides to another side of the room."

Seungmin doesn't seem to be listening, hands now grabbing the length of the sword, struggling. However, Chan's eyes weren't in the position to see him.

"I understand if you're confused, but just listen to me for a second." The male merely continues, unaware of the boy's panic.

Tears start forming in Seungmin's eyes, and that's when I couldn't take it anymore.

I immediately rush over, pushing Jisung away with all my might as I then circle my arms around the browned haired boy.

Upon my actions, he tenses up even more, before turning around and realising that it was me.

Immediately, I feel his breathing calm down. Sighing, I proceed to hush him gently.

"Shhhhh, it's okay."
