Our Story begins 6 years ago, Young Ally Smith was 9 years old. She lived in a very small town, yet felt big with all the love. Not only was her community filled with lot's of love, she also had a full family. With two brothers and a mom and dad present, Ally couldn't ask for more! Everything seemed to be perfect and in fact was in her eyes!

Ally sat in her 4th grade class room lost in thought. She was never good at focusing in class, and often found herself lost in a day dream.
"Ally!" Mrs. Cooper said enthusiastically, "What did you get for Number 5?"
"Uhh..I-I got 'The Cowboy'.." she said in a shaky voice.
"Were you even paying attention?"
"No, ma'am. I got distracted again.."
After that, she moved on and Ally found herself upset with her in-ability to focus. After the teacher was done, she handed out packets to keep us busy. I thought I was off the hook, but I was very wrong.
"Ally, come here for a moment, please." said Mrs.Cooper. I slowly walked over to her desk with an anxious feeling. Was I in trouble? Would they tell my parents?
"Yes, Mrs.Cooper?" i said shyly
"I've been grading your worksheet, and it seems that there has been a pattern in all of them. I'd like to inform you that I think you have a reading disability, and I would like to talk with your parents about it."
"Y-Yes, Mrs.Cooper." I headed back to my desk with all eyes on me. It was the scariest feeling ever, that a little kid wouldn't understand. What was a disability and why did I have it? That afternoon, as I walked to my moms classroom I got that feeling again that I could only describe as anxious. My mom worked with Disabled kids, so I thought I would be fine, but my dad was a different story. I finally got there and before opening the door took a second to breathe.
"Hey sweetie! How was your day." My mom said anxiously
Me, not knowing how to react did as anyone else would do. "Good.."
"Well that's good!"
"Yeah...so mom?"
"Yes, sweetie?"
"Mrs.Cooper told me I had this thing and she wanted to talk to you and dad about it.."
"And, what would that be?"
"Um...if I remember correctly it was a...reading disability.."
"Oh..I can go talk to her now, I don't think your dad would respond very happily."
"Oh okay." We walked down to the Red wing which was across the school from my moms side, the green wing. I held her hand as I was very scared as to what came next. We went into the room and my mom and her chatted for a while. I played with my ipod so that I wouldn't 'Hear anything'.
Soon enough, they were done talking and me and mom my left the room. She told me not to worry about anything and that during reading time they would only put me in a reading group with other kids who struggle. I shook my head saying I understood, but how could I? I didn't want to be different than the other kids and I didn't want them to see me as different.

School was finally over for the summer. I was thrilled. The whole reading thing was getting way better, and they said I was on perfect track for next year. I found out that all my worries were only in my head, for the others kids saw me as normal just like them! Now that we were out for summer break we were gonna have a lot of fun!
