Chapter 1: Disney Marathon
Amy's POV:
"Nick! That's not fair! You know The Little Mermaid is my favorite!" I shouted, smiling as I smacked my best friend across the shoulder.
"Fiiine. We'll put in The Little Mermaid, but I'm choosing the next one!" he responded, giving in to my demands.
Disney marathons are always the best, but Disney marathons with your best friends are even better.
Nick and I have been best friends for about three years now. Ever since I met him and the rest of the Team at the first performance of Starship. We clicked immediately when I showed him some of the writing I had done over the years.
"So… Why the impromptu Disney marathon? Anything specific?" I asked curiously as he returned from putting in my The Little Mermaid DVD and sat on the couch next to me. "No reason… Just felt like hanging out.. You're always busy now days, its hard to find a day when you're free." he stated, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and allowing me to rest my head on his shoulder.
"Tell me about it.." I responded in an upset tone, wrapping my arms around his waist. Most people would absolutely think we were more the just friends, but those people are wrong. The Starkids tend to be very touchy. We don't care about boundaries for the most part. Not with each other at least.
"Jesus Christ!" he shouted suddenly, pulling his arm away from around my shoulders. "You need to cut your damn hair!" he laughed, motioning to the fact that my long brown hair had wrapped itself entirely around his arm. "Shut up! You know you love my long hair!" I protested, pulling my head away from his arm so that my hair released him from its grip.
"Prove it!" he shouted playfully, crossing his arms. "Well… If you hate it so much, then cut it. Right here, right now. I've got scissors in the kitchen. You want me to get them?" I asked in all seriousness, trying to convince him that I'd gladly cut it if he didn't like it. That I'd change a part of me if he wanted me to.
"N-… God dammit." he smiled, giving in without admitting it,before he simply wrapped his arm around my shoulder once more, and we resumed out positions of cuddling and watching my favorite Disney movie. "Amy?" he said suddenly, interrupting me from the movie.
"What?" I responded. The tone of his voice made it seem like he was about to ask something very important and serious. Of course, Nick often fools people like that.
"Why's THIS one your favorite?" he smiled, gesturing to the movie with his other hand.
"Fuck you. You know exactly why." I answered, acting annoyed with his question. "Oh.. I was just kidding Ames... No need to get touchy." he said, obviously believing my acting.
I rolled my eyes at how gullible he could be, before lifting my head off his shoulder and pulling my arms away from his waist. "Wha-.." he began, before he realized that I was simply doing my routine of getting comfortable.
I slipped myself over so that I was now laying on my side, with my head using his lap as a pillow. "Is this all I am to you? Some kind of throw pillow?" he asked, obviously smiling even if I couldn't see his face.
"Don't give yourself that much credit. Throw pillows are pretty." I teased, smiling at my comeback.
Before I knew exactly what had happened, I felt something hit against my head with quite a lot of force. "Shit!" I shouted, as I realized he had obviously just challenged me to a pillow fight, causing me to lift my head off his lap and look the smiling idiot in the eyes.
"You little shit.." I smiled, grabbing the closest pillow and hitting him in return.
And then he fought back. As did I. It went by for quite some time, before he had finally pinned me on my back against the couch, defenseless with my arms pinned to either side of me. His legs were on either side of my hips as he towered over me, laughing in triumph. "That's not fair! I'm smaller than you!" I laughed, trying to get him off of me.
"Oh bullshit! We're basically the same size!" he laughed, finally giving in and getting off of me, returning to his seated position on the couch.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever.." I smirked, lifting myself off my back and taking place on his lap again. "I was kidding by the way. You're perfectly pretty." I smiled with enjoyment at calling him pretty.
"Damn right I am! I am the prettiest girl of them all!" he responded, before we both fell silent once again and he began stroking my back, coxing me to sleep.
Nick's POV:
Disney Marathons were truly the best. Disney marathons with your best friend is even better… But Disney marathons with the girl you've been in love with since the day you met her? Eh… That's only great if she know's you like her…
"So… Why the impromptu Disney marathon?" Amy asked suddenly, as I returned to the couch and took my place beside her. Because I've got something I want to ask you, and Disney is the best introduction into the question. I thought, hiding the truth. "No reason… Just felt like hanging out.. You're always busy now days, its hard to find a day when you're free." I told her, trying to sound convincing.
Lie…
"Tell me about it…" she responded, placing her head on my shoulder as I wrapped my arm around her shoulders. Being so close to her was such a normal and common thing, but that didn't make it any less special… Every time we cuddled while watching movies or reading, I couldn't help but wish she didn't think it was just a 'Starkid thing'…
*flash past all the pillow fight shit. You already read about that…*
"Ames?" I spoke up as the movie ended and her breathing had become slow and soft while I rubbed her back. "Hmm?.." he groaned, obviously dozing off.
"I actually did plan this Disney marathon for a reason.." I said quietly, my heart pounding hard.
"Why?" she slurred, obviously not paying much attention.
"Well I know that Disney is your favorite.. Same as mine… And uh.. I know that because I know you better than I know almost anyone else.. and uh.." I stuttered like an idiot, ruining my chance entirely.
"Um.. Would you.." I tried to spit out, but I couldn't manage the words.
"Would you be in our new production, Twisted?.." I mumbled out, kicking myself mentally for being such an idiot.
That was your fucking chance you idiot… And you ask about TWISTED? Really?… I thought.
"Oh my God! Really!? Me! Absolutely! Oh my God! My first actual Starkid performance!" she shouted excitedly, immediately sitting up off my lap, leaving me feeling empty.
"Ye-Yeah… You'd be great for this one part.." I said, still covering my tracks.
At least she was happy though… She wouldn't have been nearly as happy if I had asked what I actually wanted to…
