The Jester | Yeonbin fanfic

"Once upon a time from a far far away kingdom called Bighit, lived a humble king and queen. Soon after getting married the queen bore a son which spread joy to the kingdom. In celebration of another royal blood, the king and queen assembled a carnival in front of the castle. This symbolized the joy and fun the couple wanted to give their son for they know once he grows up and becomes a king he cannot enjoy fun things like this anymore. They wanted to give their son a fun yet memorable childhood.

But one night a tragic incident happened. The prince went missing. Such a baby can barely crawl how the heck can it go missing?

That night as the kingdom fell into a deep slumber a silhouette overshadowed the baby. It was not any normal silhouette rather this one was wearing a cap and bells. As the cap and bells carried the baby, it (the baby) started crying waking up the king and queen. Sensing danger they tried to chase the thief but it has jumped off the window of their bedroom making an escape leaving nothing but a joker card on the baby's crib.

The day after, the king commanded his knights to burn the carnival to the ground and kick every jester out of the kingdom including their families. People of the kingdom were sad and started to hate jesters. They threw riots kicking them out. Some due to pure hatred and fear of them taking their children burnt some houses where the jesters in the kingdom lived. No fool's hat shall be seen in every house for they symbolize theft of the prince in this kingdom. Carnivals were destroyed and now the fun was gone."

"That's so old and weird. I hate this!" complained a 6-year-old Soobin to his mother. "There's no fun in this place. Why did we even decide to live here?" he complained again and threw himself on the bed.

"Because Soobin-ah this place is where your father works. Plus there are a lot of resources here that we can use." his mother said tucking young Soobin on his bed. "But it's boring! I wanna go back to the JYP kingdom! Prince Jinyoung there gave me candies!" the kid huffed crossing his arms with pouty lips.

"Candies or carrots?" his mother teased. "Both, but I barely eat carrots! So it's mostly candy!" Soobin said thinking VERY carefully. His mother chuckled at his cute behavior. "Sleep it all tonight honey tomorrow you might wake up to a bowl full of candy or carrots if you don't sleep early." Soobin immediately closed his eyes before bidding good night.

As his mother leaves his room gently closing the door to not disturb Soobin's sleep, she quietly slid open a picture frame next to Soobin's bedroom door. It displayed a safe. She entered the passcode and the safe was opened revealing a fool's hat.
