I sit on my bed waiting for a cue that what I experienced was fake. I can't possibly be the devils daughter, death's younger sister. I am a sorta of kind of normal person.
“Angelique you don't look to good. Do you want to stay home" Lynn asks with a panic expression. I shake my head no. I don't want to know what will happen later on. I was left with a simple decision stay with a lying mother or go to my soul stealing father.
I brush my longish black hair. Lynn stays by my doorway. Does she know that I know? I pick a book from the bookshelf. Secret circle by L.J. Smith a book I probably read in the past. I stand up to grab my backpack.
I see a shadow near the window. Remember we will watch over you until you decide the words ring in my head.
“Angelique you don't want to be late on your second day of school" Mom advises. It's already day three of my out of hospital stay. I can't believe it. I go grab a pair of converse.
I notice a twinge of unhappiness in Lynn's face. Maybe she hates people wearing all black or something.
I hold my head down looking at the pale carpet leading to the door. I walk to the outside world. The October breeze keeps me from being too warm. I see Ben in a Toyota Camry. I slide in the passenger seat. He starts the engine leading us to school.
Ben kept his promise from yesterday. Why did he pick me up? I turn to watch us go by other cars. This small town could probably be missed in a blink of an eye.
When we arrive at school I still feel people watching my every move. Or I could just be paranoid. I sign to Ben thanks. He nods before walking to Sheryl. I walk quickly to art. I start sketching the devil.
