Phil had just landed in London when he got a call from his father. After a long time he answered. His father had a proposal, scratch that, he had a whole travel plan ready. Which was unlikely of him. He never encouraged his son's travel lust. He couldn't deny it. It did sound tempting. A 20 days trip to West Bengal, India with this Bengali girl during Durga Puja. A first seat glimpse of one of the most famous and beautiful Indian festivals. Plus he had never been to India. He had heard many stories, but he had travelled enough to know the only way to truly know a place was to go there. He was excited but he smelt fish. His father was actually being good to him. A rarity on its own. He weighed the pros and cons. Finally he gave an answer in the affirmative on the phone.
"Good." His father replied," I already booked your tickets. Be ready to leave in a month. In the meantime, if it's not too much, try not to disappear. "
"Sarcasm doesn't suit you daddy dearest. Save your authority for someone who cares. You can't order me around. " he snarked back a reply. He was a pretty laid back guy. However his father always managed to get out the worst in him. He hung up before it could get worse. Maina Chowdhury. That was her name. It would be interesting to say the least. He looked forward to it.
Maina still hadn't told her parents that Phil would be coming along with her. She didn't know how they would react. They could either be blasé about the whole matter or cook up a storm. Either way she did not welcome this intrusion in her personal life.
She drowned herself in work, her one mode of escape. Besides she had to finish the contract in time. Wouldn't want the clients worried now, would we?
