"Mikayla, get here now!" Screamed Keira as I groggily made my way from my room to the living room. Amanda and Emma were still asleep as it was 7:00am and they usually slept most of the day away, usually waking up at 12:00pm. Most of the apartment had remained the same from when my parents lived there; besides Keira's room which used to be Bob and Alicia's, Emma's room which used to be a guest bedroom, and Amanda's room which used to be a library of sorts.
"Yes Keira?" I asked, wiping the sleep out of my eyes. Keira was average in height, had thin, long black hair, which Emma and Amanda had inherited, and multiple frown lines, which made me happy.
Keira had twins when she was eighteen with her high school sweetheart, who soon left her once he found out she had cheated on him multiple times. That's my role model guys. He paid the child support he needed to but was never in the girls' lives, which does make you pity them if you had never met that lunatic family. They also used that excuse for everything. 'Sorry we couldn't do the essay cause we were working stuff out with our dad.' Lie. 'Sorry we didn't go to school for a month, we were working stuff out with our dad'. They were in the Bahamas. Also I had to stay and "house-sit".
"I know how desperately you were looking for a job and how you pity how much this place has gone downhill, I have a job for you that even you should be able to complete." Kiera snickered as a plan formed in that sick head of hers.
"Always looking out for me, thanks" I said in a monotone, a sarcastic smile slapped on my face
"That and I'm sick of seeing your depressed face moping around the apartment." Keira was right, I had to give her that. When I wasn't running around after Cruella De Ville, I was stuck in the apartment with an abundance of time on her hand. "Core studios has an opening for an assistant and I've been kind enough to put in a good word for you." Keira said with a glimmer of mischief in her eyes. "Write a resume and a cover letter for the job and hand it in today. They've decided to make it a one-day opening as many would go for it." 'Core Studios' were the top record label in the world, holding all the most popular artists such as Conor Hart, Katelyn DiMauro, Jasmine Lord and Troy Lewis.
"But what if I want to go for another job?" I asked, kind of cranky that Keira would assume that I'd be interested in going from, being an assistant to be another assistant, but I also wanted to see her reaction. Times like these when I could be annoying and get away with it were my favourite times.
"I thought you would've been jumping for joy at the thought of being able to leave the house everyday!" Remarked Keira. Good point, gosh she's good at faking being a decent mother-figure today.
"Ok, fair. But, are there any conditions, because knowing you, you wouldn't do anything nice for me unless it benefitted you in some way." I retaliated back, trying to act sincere.
"You know me too well." Keira said, hand on heart, smile plastered across her face pretending to be touched.
"It's quite a simple task, so you should manage. You just.." Started Keira, hesitating which was quite new for her, "need to get dirt on them." She awaited my response, weary.
"You know I'm only going to be an assistant, right? I might not even get the job!" I exclaimed back. Crushing her wishes gave me so much joy.
"If you'd let me finish", spat Keira. "You will be anyone and everyone's buddy. You will be the person they can rely on to do whatever they need. If they need you to get them coffee, you do it. If they need you to blackmail someone, you do it. Build their trust so I can use it against them. And force slash, persuade them to come over to 'Cresp Productions'. Got it?"
"You've got to be kidding me?" I retorted, the idea sounding as stupid inside my head as I go over it, as it did when Keira first said it.
"It will work as long as you don't screw it up." Said Kiera as she busied herself back to watching a cooking show, 'learning' a recipe that everyone knows she'll never use. One, because I do all of the cooking and two, Keira wouldn't know a frypan if I hit it across her head. But I won't. Yet
"Aye aye captain!" I Mikayla as I simultaneously saluted Keira, catching my reflection in the TV. I then made my way back to my room so she could touch up my resume and write a cover letter because Keira's wish is my one command.
